Rubbish. It means you have the lock slider in the LOCK position and the scan head is unable to move back to starting position.

That normally means that the imaging mechanism has shifted off of the tracks that it moves on when it scans your document. This is usually something that is covered under warranty if you still have one. If not, you may have to pay to get it repaired or replaced. This is not something that is easily fixed if you aren't familiar with scanner components.
