Our flat screen is about 2 years old. Once TV is turned off, cannot get it to come back on. Seems to go thru a series of scans. Just a blinking lite. No sound no picture. If it has been on for a while and you turn it off, it will come on if you turn in on again immediately. Like it needs to warm up.

There two caps on the power supply that the tops will swell up. Change them both and that should get you going.

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped

My magnavox 32mf231d/37 tv will power up and the sound works, but the screen is blue... any help would be great!

Blue screen means no signal detected which if you have audio is strange---How and where on the set is the signal hooked up?

Coax or cable fitting?

Rear audio and video or component or HDMI?

Magnavox 32mf231d - Just a blinking green light, No Power

I had this problem, but saw other places that it was a cheesy capacitor on the power supply circuit board causing this. I opened it up and took the power supply board out and it was obvious which capacitor was bad...top was bulging and had black stuff on it. It was rated 2200 uF @ 25V...got a new one @ Radio Shack that was 2200 uF @ 35v. Soldered it in (I stink @ soldering, but gave it a shot and it was EZ). Watching the first weekend of college football w/o waiting on a flashing green light for up to an hour so the TV would start! I'm going to try to find the other websites that directed me to this to say THANK YOU...BTW my brother used to have fits with several Magnovox TV's and thier power supplies back in the old tube style TV days. I thought I didn't need to worry about this with an HD flatscreen, but was wrong. I will think twice before buying a Phillips/Magnavox/Funai/whatever else they are again. They have a long list of complaints and I believe a class action lawsuit to refer to about this problem. They should have stepped up and done something!

An earlier post of the smaller model of this with the same problem said to remove the metal cover over the power supply.

I have the 26MF231D and it worked great afterward (even though you can't mount it)

Here is how you remove the cover.

Tv wont stay on

Hello annbower1125,
First I want you to put the back on the TV. The reason I say this is that you do not know electronics, I am not saying this to offend you, I say this because no matter what is wrong with that TV you are going to need a professional to do the actual troubleshooting and replacement of the part and or parts. Please take this TV to a qualified TV repair person, because it sounds like it has a power supply problem and that could mean a problem in the Horizontal circuitry and or the Low voltage power supply. These could expose you to dangerously high voltages.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,
Shuttle83
