Question about HP Pavilion a305w (DM181AR) PC Desktop

3 Answers

Audio Problems I had to completely reinstall my os and now I have no sound. My sound driver calls for the realtek ac97 audio driver. I have downloaded multiple drivers that are suppose to work but I get the same message when it is installed. After restart it say invalid date as to the driver that just was installed. This has happened to every driver I have downloaded. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Maybe a silly question, but is your time and date correct on your computer?

Dear loandtee,
u said u reinstalledyour os. but u din't tell wat's your os.
If it is xp then you have to instal audio driver of that particular motherboard.
If it is vista then no need of audio driver.
U also din't specify your motherboard make and also chipset.
For example i'm havin asus motherboard for intel945gc chipset.
So i can only tel general suggestion
If u have motherboard cd then no problem. it wil have appropriate audio driver.
If you have to download from net then u should find those two details.

I lost my motherboard cd . i want audio driver for mercury PI45GCM.. PLEASE HELP..

This board has a Realtek on-board sound.
The manufacture has removed the audio driver (and others) from its website, however you can download the AC97 Audio Codec from the Realtek website here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/Downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
Follow link, accept the agreement, download your Driver matching the OS listed in the chart.

Good Luck,

Please rate if helpful.

Realtek AC'97 driver

Before installing the AC97 software drivers, open System than click the Hardware tab than click Device manager. Scroll down to Sound, video & game controllers. Do you see a yellow ! point? If so than your drivers do need to be reinstalled. I could send you to Asus's site but they are a bit out dated so go here for updated drivers. The first one listed under Description will do just fine.
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
When you open the sound, video & game controller find AC97 & uninstall by right clicking on AC97 & uninstall. Only the AC97, leave the rest alone. Restart the PC than install the new drivers that you saved to your hard drive.
Check driver installed by opening controll panel than open Sound & Audio Device icon. Under Audio tab Realtek AC97 should be listed than click the Voice tab & the same should be listed.
Test both Audio & Mic functions. If either fail your intergrated controller could be defective. Lets hope everything works fine.

No sound/audio device recognized

Tell you what, try the new High defenition audio drivers from Realtek. it's available on their homepage. That's been a big problem, due to the lack of information (can you beleve that!) from Realtek. HD drivers are preparation for windows of as the name sais High Defenition sound. After that normaly windows (XP) gets everything done by itself.
