Pt 56tw53 picture trouble

Television went off by itself. power but keeps flashing. i unplugged the set for about 1 hour. it turned on but the picture was very bright with washed out colors. there are severl swirly lines on the screen in red green and i belive blue. i unplugged the tv again for several hours and the same thing was found when i turned it back on. this time however, after being on for 1 hour it shut itself off and now the power button is blinking again. the set is 2 years and 6 months old. i live in the new orleans area. so if you know of anyone or if anyone know how i might be able to fix the problem..........i would greatly appreciate it. tv is out of warranty. thanks carolyn

Re: pt 56tw53 picture trouble

I had the same problem with my TV, It seems the high voltage trasnformer blew which in turn casued the pin cushion?? to blow. It then shuts the tv off to prevent more damage to it. $500 with service charges to get it fixed!

The power light is flashing and the set will not turn on.

Possible fault in the power supply section of the Tv, the SMPS, it might be cutting off due to a current limiting function in the circuit. make sure that the connectors are tight specially the ground to the power supply. The other fault can be the lamp itself as it can be defective. make sure that the connections to the lamps are tight. A cross check onthe voltage of the circuit+B can be useful to determine the missing problem.

I have a Samsung 50" HDTV DLP TV that I purchased 10/12/2008. I turned the set on the other day and it would come on generate a normal picture then power itself off. I unplugged the set for a few hours...

Lamp could still be going out they only last for 5,000 hrs some 8,000 playing hours.
Check the Lamp Fan if it stops running when Lamp turns on set will turn OFF.
But if you have never replaced Lamp Problem will be the Lamp Mats Has them for $99.00

Pt 56tw53 picture trouble

Based upon your description, the problem area is the convergence circuit. These sets usually have a couple of large black ICs that control the convergence. These Ics either have bad connections on the pins or are failing. You can try resoldering the pins of these ICs if you can solder, or replace them. These ICs are usually marked STKxxx and are attached to a heatsink.
If you get this repaired, expect to pay about $30-$40 for each IC (there can be 2) along with the local labor rate for projection sets.

Diagonal lines

You should try a double reset; this may reset the memory (actually eeproms) in the convergence board. If it does not work, then you will have to keep adjusting or replace the bad components on the board - which you may have trouble finding someone with enough smarts to know how to diagnose let alone do the delicate repairs.

DOUBLE RESET: Unplug the power cord for 4 hours. Power on the set for 10 minutes; make no adjustments. Then unplug again for at least 4 hours.

Let me know the outcome

Power light flashing/ no picture

I have the same problem. The only way to get the TV to come on is to unplug it, but once you get it back on it turns itself off again in a few minutes.

Did you ever find anything out about this? I have a pt-53tw53g with the exact same problem, and I've been unable to find out what the three flashes means.
