Well if you have the sound drivers installed, it should be there, if its not you can try to install sound drivers again which should give it back to you.
However you could also put your windows disk in and goto the option for installing "extras". In there you should find a referance to sound cards or sound mixers etc etc.... Just install them and re-boot and your done. :-)
What do you mean by error sounds? Is it that you cant hear any sound at all?Follow these steps.
You can roll back the driver by right clicking on my computer, properties,Hardware, device manager,Sound video and game controllers, right click on the intel 8080 driver, properties, driver, roll back driver. Or you may have to download another driver from the site below: http://drivers.softpedia.com/essentials/SOUND-CARD.shtml
Have you tried restarting your computer? If that didn't work try deleting the program for your sound card and try reinstalling it. If that doesn't work try a system restore, now depending on your operating system the fallowing information my not be accurate. This is for Windows XP Home edition, Click on Start>help and support>system restore. Then it will ask you what date you want to restore it to, then pick a date, then click continue or next and it should restore your system to that date. Hope this helped=)
