If your router wont accept your password, you can simply reset the router. Look for a reset button at the back of the router. Press and hold it down for 20 seconds, then unplug the power cable. Wait for 30 seconds then plug it back in. That should clear the password and will let you connect to the internet.

I cant reset wireless key on my router it says do that if it wont accept my password

To do this, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds. NOTE: Resetting your router to its default factory settings will also reset your router's password. The router's default password is "admin" as for the username, just leave the field blank.

Setup 64bit pass phrase on Belkin router. All wireless devices say,

Do your other devices support 64bit wep, and are you selecting that as your encryption type on each device. For example I know on my cellphone I have to specify the type of encryption that is used. You might also log into the router, just to double check the encryption type and the pass phrase (even if you are spelling it right).

Won't accept password

Which password? Are you trying to connect to the wireless network. Make sure that you have the correct network password. Open the setup page of the wireless router and check the wireless network key WEP WPA.
If you are trying to open the setup page of the router then try default password admin.

Can't connect iphone to dlink router

When my ipod tries to connect to my computer wirelessly, it asks for the password. I enter it, but it won't accept password. It finds the router ok, just says password is incorrect. I've checked and it's the right one. Any suggestions?

New Belkin router wont connect to internet.

your user name and password have been entered incorrectly, they are case sensitive and must be exact. Make sure your ADSL settings are set at 0/38 (you'll see where)

Can't connect wirelessly as it won't accept my password.

Hello paulclarke88;

What your router is asking for is a secure wep login. You can provide this number by loging into your router directly, and go to the securty section of the menu, and generate a new wep key. It will then generate a key, that you should write it down, because this new key is what will give you access with your Acer. Typically the Dlink login is ip address 192.168.0.1 Usernames admin Password
is left blank.

Good Luck and don't forget to leave a rating.

Thanks Mark

Hi Guest….not sure why this issue is occurring, but this is what I would do:

1. Connect to router via Ethernet cable (not wireless)

2. Try 1234 instead of password

3. Ensure caps lock is off (OK, it’s an old one, but it can happen)

4. If the router came from your ISP, check their website – sometimes they install their own firmware and default password (eg, UK Sky users - try password sky)

5. Reboot your router, then see if it accepts the defaults

6. If you bought the router new, it's fresh out of the box, and you’re setting it up – and the defaults don’t work - contact Netgear

7. If anyone else set up the router, or you bought it second-hand, or you think the password has changed and you don't know the new password- it’s time to consider a hard reset.

This is a last resort, as it will clear all settings and cut off your internet connection, until you set up the router again. A hard reset is only recommended for experienced users (ie if you set up your own router in the first place). However, if this doesn’t restore defaults either, contact Netgear.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Disconected again

Unfortunately, by FCC regulation, your phone and wireless device have to accept interference. Sounds like it's a proximity issue. Try moving the phone base to another part of the house - different room. That will cut down on the power level from the phone over the router.
Also, try a couple other tricks on the router by encrypting the wireless signal to the router.
The WEP ENCRYPTION encoding scheme by default will cut down on the interferences but may slow connection speeds.
And by changing the operating channel in the router to the highest one - channel 11.
Most routers will tell you what the frequencies are of the 11 channels. Try to find out the frequency of the phone and then move the router channel as far away from that freq as you can - up or down.
