Question about NetGear WGT624 Wireless Router

NetGear WGT624 Wireless Router

Purchased the above router yesterday and after several attempts to install it, I was getting the same problem, we were being asked to enter a a key code, no where in the packing, box, or information leaflets was there a key code. We also have netgear DG834g v3 already established and working satisfactorily on the system. It seems to be the only set back. Would be obliged if you can help. grgetownsend@aol.com

Was this in a sealed box and did you get instructions?

Out of the box, a Netgear router is fairly easy to set up. If you don't have a manual, here's a link to the quick setup guide.
ftp://downloads.netgear.com/files/WGT624v4_SM_30Apr07.pdf

Note on pdf page 20 that if you've somehow screwed it up, you can take a paper clip and reset the box to default. Then follow the manual setup instructions from the beginning of the document.

Netgear wgt624 v3 problem, cannot go to any sites

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Can't get wireless connection to work

Is the wireless card driver installed and working?
Can the wireless card detect your Netgear Router and does it have a strong signal strength?
The Wireless card needs to be configured with the Netgear Router's SSID and encryption settings before it will communicate with the Netgear Router.
Let me know if you have further problems together with error messages.

How to install a wireless router without cd

You can download the device drivers from NetGears own website @ http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WGT624.asp you will need to select the EXACT model( version you have - this can be found on the stamp underneath the router that has all those barcodes on) and download the latest drivers for yours. by doing this it will trigger 1 of 2 responses:

1. You have the latest version, no update is needed

2. You must setup your device before updating drivers. to do this please select OK

1 - Will trigger an auto setup of the device.
2 - Will take you through the setup wizard itself

which depends on how your router was shipped. If you have brought the router 2nd hand then you can obtain a new setup disc free of charge via the same site if neither of the above work.

For future ref: PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR 'FULL' ROUTER INFO-Different models of the same router can work quite differently and you may not get a best fix without it

Best Regards
Cruton

No. This is referring to the free space on the CD itself. As this is a commercially stamped CD-ROM it is gonna report 0 bytes free as you are unable to add more data to the CD. The driver on the CD should install properly.

I have no installation manual for the wgt624

Hi,

You can download a manual from the Netgear website.

You'll need the full model and version number of your router. If you're not sure of this, take a look at the base of the router, where there should be a label with this information (for example, WGT624v4, or WGT624v2.)

Then visit this page and click the link to the Support Page for your model number:

http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WGT624.asp

Links to the downloadable installation guides/manuals are usually on the left-hand side. Good luck.
