It could be a sync problem so it might be good to start there. See what that does:

I have the same problem. It is not a sync issue. Can turn on wii console with Nyko controller, then go into Just Dance 2014. About 4 seconds later the Nyko behaves very strangely, makes some noises and turns off. Controller that comes with the Wii is fine, only the Nyko has problems, and only with Just Dance 2014. JD 2013 and all other games we have are perfectly fine.
you have to connect it to the wii there are to red bottons one on the remote and one on the wii push the one on the wii then the one on the remote then it sould work for you .
You have to sync the remote with the Wii. First, locate the sync buttons on both the remote and the Wii. The remote's sync button should be under the battery cover. The Wii's sync button should be under a flap near the disc drive. Then press the remote's sync button, followed by the Wii's sync button. Make sure there are batteries in the remote, and that the Wii is on.
I have purchased this wand in the past and I found it to be very troublesome and prone to many issues.
The Nyko wands also had some that were not compatible with the Wii Motion Plus.
As for connecting your wand, what worked for me in the past is hold down the Sync button on the Wii and then hit the sync button on your wand. This is located usually under the battery cover.
This should connect the wand for you.
ok you will need to synchronization.Press the power button on the wii conosle to turn it on remove the battery cover on the backof the remote.Press and release the SYNC. button inside the cover.the player leds will blink.Open the fornt door on the wii console press and release the SYNC.button on the inside of the compartment. when the player LED blinking stop connection is complete the LED that is iluminated indicates the player number, THAT IS IT
You must first sync the remote and consul. To do this you take off the back of the remote then hit the red button.Their is a red button on the consul that you need to push at the same time then push the a button on the remote. If you are trying to hook up the old style Nintendo controller then you plug the controller in to the end of the wii remoute the same way you hook up the nunchuk.
