I suggests you to call nintendo let them diagnose the unit. Maybe they have some software or firmware update for wii. Re-flashing or updating the firmware may fix it.

Try this:

1 Turn the Wii console power OFF by pressing the POWER Button on the front of the console. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for a few seconds. After a few seconds have elapsed, plug the power back.
2 Turn the power of the Wii console ON. When you see the Health and Safety screen, open the small flap on the front of the Wii console to find a red button labeled "SYNC." Press and hold the SYNC Button down for 15 seconds.
3 After holding the SYNC Button on the Wii console down for at least 15 seconds, you can now "re-sync" your Wii Remotes:
a With the first Wii Remote you wish to sync, remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote to find a small red button just below the batteries.
b Press and release the small red button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote, the blue lights on the front of the Wii Remote will blink.
c Quickly press and release the red SYNC button on the inside of the white flap on the front of the Wii console.
d When the Player LED blinking stops and stays lit, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).
4 Start the game from the Wii Menu, then sync the Wii Balance Board from the opening screen of the game.

If still didn't work better have the Wii replace from walmart since its new..

Hope that helps.........

Turn off for a moment, try again, reconnect your controller.

Since its brand new, you can get it replaced if that doesn't work, dont waste your energy on it, just get another one, free replacement / warraty. Im sure.

We were playing a game and the tv screen went black then we ejected the game and the wii console will not shut off and now it wont play a game or nothind then we tried to unhook it and the light stayed...

Power light is green or orange - TV screen is blank
If the power light is green or orange and your screen remains blank, follow these steps.
    1. Completely power down your system by pressing the power button for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, unplug the AC Adapter from the Wii for a moment, then plug it back in.
    2. Make sure your Wii console has the most current Wii system menu. Download the latest update (how to), and then test your Wii console to determine if the problem has been resolved.
If you continue to experience this issue, there is a problem with the Wii console and it will need to be repaired.

Wii Remote Problems!!

This is factory default with the Nintendo Wii, Try simply removing the batteries when done, OR!, which I do, is hold my hand over the top of the WiiMote and then press the power button, this prevents the Wii from getting the remote's instruction to power down, the remote thinks the Wii got it and then shuts down. Good Luck!

WII remote not working properly

Try this. It just worked for me. I actually didn't have to synch. After I unplugged the console and restarted, it worked.

    Try these steps!

  1. Turn the Wii console power OFF by pressing the POWER Button on the front of the console. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for a few seconds. After a few seconds have elapsed, plug the cord back into the wall outlet.

  2. Turn the power of the Wii console ON. When you see the Health and Safety screen, open the small flap on the front of the Wii console to find a red button labeled "SYNC." Press and hold the SYNC Button down for 15 seconds. This will clear all the syncs on the Wii, allowing you to get a clean start to begin the process described below.

  3. After holding the SYNC Button on the Wii console down for at least 15 seconds, you can now "re-sync" your Wii Remotes:

    1. With the first Wii Remote you wish to sync, remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote to find a small red button just below the batteries.

    2. Press and release the small red button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote; the blue lights on the front of the Wii Remote will blink.

    3. Quickly press and release the red SYNC button on the inside of the white flap on the front of the Wii console (picture).

    4. When the Player LED blinking stops and stays lit, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).
    5. This sync procedure (steps "a" through "d" above) must be followed for each additional Wii Remote added to the system.

Cant add a controller

I had the same problem and called Nintendo support. They had us unplug the wii console for 30 seconds, plug it back in and start the system back up. BEFORE pressing the A button on the health and safety screen, we needed to take the battery cover off of one remote, press the red sync button, then quickly press the sync button on the front of the wii console (in the front - you have to open the flap). Once the single blue light was on at the bottom of the remote, do the same with the other remote (press the sync button on it and then on the wii console). Then the second blue light should be lit on the second remote. Hope that helps!

My wii is not working

If it's orange that means it is turned off. It turns green when you turn it on. Insert a disc, press the power button or hit eject.

2nd wii remote will not connect with mario play 8

We had this same problem so I did a google search for 2nd wii remote not connecting or staying connected and this is what we came up with and did this and it really works! So hopefully this will help all of you to. Good luck! K and M

This is from www.nintendo.com/wii :

Wii Remote not being recognized by the Wii Console (lights on the Wii Remote flash when you press a button, but then go out) - Most Common:
Getting the Wii console to recognize (or "sync" with) a Wii Remote, especially one that did not come in the box with your Wii console, may require doing a few additional steps before it can be synced. Additionally, a Wii Remote that was working, but is no longer being recognized (or has "lost its sync") may need to be re-synced. Please use the troubleshooting steps listed below, which our experience has shown can solve many Wii Remote issues.
