I am just trying to find out what are the recommended settings for a 8.8 cu. ft. energy star rated Frigidaire chest freezer.

I would suggest getting a fridge/freezer thermometer and use that to set the temperature. They are marked with the recommended temperatures. Also many times the setting on the nob in the freezer are not very consistent so it is better to actually set the temperature by turning the knob up or down to reach the desired temp on the thermometer

Temperature

If this unit has a control it would be located on the outer left side in the lower right hand corner. There would be a dial, the higher the number the cooler the temperature. Many of these chest freezers did not have an adjustable control.

Temperature swing specification in a chest freezer.

It depends on the control that your freezer utilizes.

If your temp control dial has the numbers 0-9 or 1-9, then you have whats commonly known as a coil temp sensor.

Unlike an air temp contol that measure the air temp inside the freezer and comes on and off with a 3-5° swing, the coil temp sensor runs a little bit different.

With a coil temp control or sensor, the temp control has a capillary tube and bulb that is inserted into the coil either at on of the ends down a guidetube or just into the center of the radiator type fins. This temp control measures the temperature of the coil, and not the temperature of the air inside the freezer. When the unit runs, the coils typically gets 20° colder than the air temp. And when the control satisfies (shuts off), it will not call for cooling again until the sensing bulb has reached the cut-in point which is typically well above design box temp.

So, to quickly answer your question, yes it is possible to have a 25° temp swing and not have anything really wrong with the unit. That is how its been designed to operate and that is how it will operate. Your only option (although not recommended) is to replace the coil temp sensor with and air temp control. That will give you more consistent temps.

Also, when taking temp of a freezer with a coil temp sensor, be sure to temp the product in the freezer and not the air temperature.

I want to know how i put the temperature control, and what means the control with this simbols: - O

The switch that looks like - o is an on and off switch, and set the temp in the middle of the scale, and let it sit for 24 hrs. check the temp and adjust as needed. Hope this helps

Need -20 degrees Celsius...Will this brand get there?

If all is ideal maybe -10 an occationally -15 and this is F considerable coolder than -20C. ALSO fyi a chest freezer will stay at or below these temps better than an upright and especially a self defrosting model. Because a chest freezer you dont loose all the cold air when you open the door. TYhey are not made in auto matic defrost as far as I know (never have seen one but then I havent been looking for one either. An up right freezer can be manual defrost or automatic. but the cold air falls ouit every time the door is opened.

Please let em know if this helps you by giving me as high a mark as you can and thank you for using fixya.
