Then due to over voltage in the external ports the harddisk cable might have got burnt or may be where you connect the cable to the harddisk there in the circuit board the pins might have got touched with one another and it may have got short circuited and it might have got burnt away ...

i think your harddisk will be under warranty still as it is new one so just make use of warranty and get the harddisk replaced from where you purchased ...

if you dont have the warranty then the harddisk is dead you cant make it work by anyway even if you contact the technician too he cant help because harddisks cant be repaired once it is removed it is gone ...

i am sure that your harddisk will be under warranty if you have buyed the new one ...

My cyberpower 900avr smells burnt and wasnt not on. all i had plugged in it was my dsl and my printer..they all work in another socket... around the socket on the wall where you plug you can see a ring but...

inside your unit there are 2 power boards that convert a lot of current to and from the battery - complete failure on one of theses boards is a common problem and it's a terminal one.
if the mains power board has failed then yes, it has indeed overstressed the wall plug and you will have to completely replace it as soon as possible.

Burnt out

internal failure possibly on power side, lower than 300A fault current so unit could not trip i/p protection and as fault was post ac section, continued to burn internally.
it just broke
no breakers tripped out so it kept drawing current until the fault burnt away.

maybe this is what happened, need to know a lot more info to change hypothisis

Powering up

Either you are not plugged into the backed-up outlets on the UPS (many brands have both on them), or the battery pack inside is dead.
