My Optoma 739 is displaying a flicker-like effect when projecting the picture, and the picture quality also has a "mosaic" like effect in appearance.

SOURCE: My optoma works well with

if you tried all the settings on the video card in the Mac ..and it made no changes..than the issue might be from the conversion cable from the DVI to vga..if you use an adapter cable ..and not a direct dvi to vga ..try to change it maybe it is the issue ..
anyway ..first try to adjust the image by defaulting the settings into the video setting of the Mac ..but the idea with a defective or ..wrong pin-wired cable is still on ..and worth trying ..

I have an Optoma DS316L which has no red colour, will changing the lamp fix the problem?

No. The lamp is strictly for luminance. You might check the video cable first. If its HDMI going into the projector, swap out the cable. Make sure you have it thoroughly plugged in. Also check the connection on the device you're connecting to the projector, for example a DVR, a computer, a streaming device.

If none of those work, then you may might have a defective circuit inside the projector to interpret color. Hope its on warranty.

Sound like the original color wheel for Optoma HD80 is bad.

If the unit has been moved when hot.

If not, try un-plugging the unit for a few minutes and re-connect.

Hope this helps
