Sound like you have password encrypted on the SSID???
try to connect w/o any encryption. if it connect then assign a simple password, and increase complexity

How to connect 2wire 2700 as a wireless router

Connect your computer to the 2Wire modem with an ethernet cable so the modem may be configured. Wait about 20 seconds after connecting the cable from the modem to computer (so the PC can obtain an IP address) and then open Internet Explorer. Once Internet Explorer is open, type "192.168.1.254" into the address bar and hit enter. This will bring you to the modem's web interface where you can configure its internal settings.
Click on the "Home Network" tab on top and then click on the "Wireless Settings" sub-tab under that. This is where you can set your WIFI settings. Your Network Name (SSID) will be 2Wire### by default. Record this because it is the name of the network and what you will select when connecting your PC to the wireless network. Be sure to check the box to enable SSID Broadcast, which will make it easier for you to connect to later. Then check the box to Enable Wireless Security, followed by choosing your authentication and encryption method. You can choose to just leave the default security (WEP-Open) and your wireless network key (aka, WIFI password) will be a ten digit number printed between the brackets on the S/N sticker (located between the 2 bar codes). The other method would be to choose WPA-PSK authentication and use a custom key (must be 8+ characters). If you're not advanced, I would just use the Default with WEP-Open... though some techs would disagree with this security, this will provide you protection and you'll always have your wireless key printed right on the modem for easy access. This key is the second thing you should record (the first was the network name [SSID], since you will need it to connect your wireless devices to your network.
Your wireless network is now set up and secure. Just connect your device(s) to the network by choosing your network name in the View Wireless Networks utility of your device and enter the Network Key (network password) when prompted. Done!
I hope this helps. If you need clarification on anything, do not hesitate to reply to this post and I will explain in further detail. If you found this helpful, please leave a great rating so others may be helped by this answer too!

I was connecting my siemens wireless router 6520 and i reset it after doing that the wireless light went off and would not work again anything i can do?

If you reset the router, you will likely need to go into the router's configuration through a wired connection and enable the wireless functionality of the router.

Please see the excerpt from the below website:

NOTE: The IP address in the example may differ than your actual IP

Please follow these steps to set up your a wireless network with your Siemens Speedstream 6520 Wireless Modem.

To create a wireless network you first need to enable the wireless functionality of the router. To do this you need to connect the router by an Ethernet cable to your computer. Once the wireless modem is plugged into your computer via Ethernet and turned on please follow these steps to enable the wireless functionality.

Open Internet Explorer or your preferred browser.
  1. In the address bar type 192.168.254.254 then press enter.
  2. This will bring up the main page for the Router.
  3. Once the start up page has loaded you will then need to login by clicking on the "Go" button in the top left of the window.
  4. This will bring up the Login page. Once the page has loaded please enter the username username and your password, then click "Log In".

Note: The default password is "admin", although this may have changed if you have changed the password.

Once this page has loaded click on "Home Network" and then click "Advanced".
Once the new page has loaded you will have a list of links, please click on the "Configure the Local Speedstream Gateway Wireless Network" link.
This will bring up a new page called "Wireless Summary".
Once this page has loaded place click on "Begin Wireless Wizard".
On the new page under where it says "Wireless Interface" please click "Enable".
Once you have changed the wireless interface to "Enable" please enter a name for your wireless network where it says SSID (e.g. "Home Office").
Then please click on the "Next" link.
On the new page, please change "Security Mode" to "WEP 64-bits" and click "Next".
This will bring up the "Wireless 64-Bit WEP Configuration" page.
On this page you will need to enter a passphrase to generate your WEP keys. We have used "icecream" but you can use anything. Once you have entered a phrase click "Generate Key".

This will generate four 64 Bit Key's. Please select any one of the four keys and click "Next".
Note: You will need the 64 Bit Key that you select in the future for devices to log on to the wireless network. Make sure you can remember your chose a passphrase that you will remember.
Once you have clicked "Next" a new page will load called "Wireless Filter Configuration". This is an advanced page for allowing access and denying access to certain computers or devices. We have set the "Wireless Filter" mode to "Disable".
Please click on the "Next" button to bring you to the "Wireless Options Configuration Page".
On this page pleas make sure that:
"Data Transfer Rate:" is set to "Auto"
"RTS/CTS Threshold:" is set to "2432"
"Fragmentation Threshold:" is set to "2346"
Once these setting are correct please click "Next" to bring up the "Wireless Wizard" page.
Once this page has loaded, you have finished enabling your wireless network so click "Finish".

This will bring up the "Wireless Summary" page again, but next to where it says "State" it should say "Enabled". Please ensure your settings are the same as the screen shot below ("SSID" and "Security Key Info" may be different").
If all these details are the same please click on the "Reboot" button to save the changes, and then once the new page loads click on "Reboot" to restart the router.
Once your modem has fully rebooted, please close your browser.
You are now able to unplug the Ethernet cable from the router and the computer.

How to connect other computers to your wireless network
On the computer you want to connect to the wireless network please follow these steps.
Once your browser is closed please click on the "Start" menu on the bottom of your screen, the click on "All Programs", hover over "Accessories", then hover over "Communications" and then click on "Network Connections".
Once "Network Connections" has opened under where it says "LAN or High-Speed Internet" please right click on "Wireless Network Connection" and then click "View Available Wireless Networks".
This should load the "Wireless Network Connection" window, and you should be able to see the wireless network you have set up.
Note: If there is nothing in your list you will need to click the "Refresh network list" button.

Once you see your network, make sure it is highlighted and then click "Connect".
Once you have clicked "Connect" it will ask you for your "Network Key". Please enter your 10 character key next to where it says "Network Key" and then retype the 10 character key where it says "Confirm Network Key".
Note: Your "Network Key" is the 64 Bit Key that you generated with a passphrase in step 16.
Once you have entered and confirmed your network key click on connect.

If everything is successful, the "Wireless Network Connections" window should say "Connected" next to your wireless network that you set up.
You should now be able to browse the internet.

I got a charter internet router thet hooks to the cable service it does not have a phone connection and I have a 2 wire 2701hg wireless router is there a way to connect the two for my playstation 3 in the...

Wireless Connection

  1. Write down your wireless network name (SSID -example 2WIRExxx) and the security key (WEP key)
    • If you are using an 3rd party(PlayStation) wireless networking adapter (sold separately from your system), connect the USB connector to the USB port on the back of the console. Do not use the front USB ports.
  2. Turn on your console and wireless device.
    • If you have a wireless-to-Ethernet bridge, turn on the device.
    • If you have an 3rd party (PlayStation) wireless networking adapter, the device turns on automatically with the console.
  3. Turn on your 3rd party(PlayStation) console.
    • If this is the first time you are turning on your console, complete the initial setup and create a profile before continuing.
  4. In the System area of the 3rd party(PlayStation) dashboard, select "Network Settings."
  5. Select "Edit Settings."
  6. From the Basic Settings tab, select "Wireless Mode."
    • You are asked to set your locale if you have not set it on the console. Your locale is the country or region from where you are connecting to3rd party(PlayStation) Live.
  7. Is your wireless network name (SSID - 2WIRExxx) displayed on the screen?
    • If it is displayed, select it.
    • If it is not displayed because you are connecting to a wireless network where the network name is not being broadcast, choose "Specify Unlisted Network". Select the security type for the network, and enter the wireless security settings for the network.
  8. Enter the WEP Key.
    • If encryption is disabled on your HomePortal, you will not have the option to enter wireless security settings.
  9. When prompted, select Test Xbox Live.
If the Xbox Live test reports Connected, congratulations! You are now successfully connected your Xbox 360 console to Xbox Live. Select "Edit Settings" to review your settings or Xbox dashboard (Y button) to begin gaming.

How do I make my Speedstream 6520 compatible with

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?
(making a program work with windows 7)

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:)) julyallan01_52.jpg

My internet goes down randomly. I don't know if it my modem or my provider. Any suggestions? I am using an Efficient Networks Speedstream 5100 modem and an D-Link WBR 1310 wireless router.

Are you using wired ports on the router or wireless?
If you are using wireless, do you have a cordless phone nearby and does the use of it coincide with the loss of internet? Have you tried switching to a wired connection for a short while to see if you are having the same problem? Could be intereference issues with your wireless signal. When you look at the available wireless networks, are there more than one? Could be that your PC/laptop is trying to connect to someone else's wireless if their signal strength is stronger.
If you are using a wired connection on the wireless router and still losing connectivity, try a network connection monitoring tool such as WhatsUpGold (free to try). Have it set up to monitor your PC's gateway address (which should be your wireless router) and some other internet site (Google, Yahoo, etc). If your router connection never drops, but the internet site does, good chance that it's your provider.
Make sure you have the latest drivers for your network device (wired or wireless) and the latest version of firmware for your D-Link. Buggy drivers and firmware can definitely cause flakiness.
