Question about Sony ICD-B200 Digital Voice Recorder

Power switch I am unable to power the device off without removing my battery. Is there another way? My battery dies and I cannot turn it back on without a new battery, so it must still be on. Is there anyway to turn it off completely.

ugh...maybe we are both idiots but i have the same issue, luckily the batteries last a little while if you forget to take them out but i have seriously tried EVERY button, just pushing and then pressing them for a while...even different combos...if you find something let me know but i have yet to see anything

Mine won't power off to the point where the display is turned off. There are no apparent power off/on buttons and the hold-switch in either position do not 'power off' the device. Is the display meant to stay on all the time? Seems like a waste of battery really.

I looked on sony.com - put the hold switch to the up position and it will turn off within a few seconds

How do I stop the clock needing to be reset each time I power on on my PCM-M10?

from: The Taperssection Forum http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=139638.360
"Hi all,

maybe I can offer an explanation why some people have the RTC problem and others have not. After leaving my M10 on the shelf for about two months without switching it on (batteries were still fully charged!), I had to set the clock.
So I wondered what is going on. I pulled out the schematic of the M10s big brother, the D50.
The power supply section is rather complicated with lots of MOSFET switches and regulators, even one for the RTC battery. Checking the component values, I guesstimate that it takes about 30 to 40 hours to recharge an empty RTC battery - the state of the battery is in when you are asked to set time and date. If fully charged, you can expect 2000-3000 hours of RTC operation.
It seems to me that the D50 (and probably the M10) switch off completely when battery powered - not even the RTC battery is recharged!

So it depends on your use profile whether you have the dreaded "set date and time" problem or not. Regular use (best every day) keeps the RTC battery charged. in the future, I will let it go into sleep mode, and not switch it off. Another solution is to plug in the power supply before storage and let the M10 run for two days to top off the RTC battery, this should be sufficient for two months.

BTW if someone could send me a schematic of the M10, I could replace my educated guess with fact.

Greetings,

Rainer"

My voice recorder won't turn on!!!

We had a similar problem (it wouldn't turn on), and it turned out that we hadn't taken off both layers of clear packaging from the batteries. It now works.

Ask your dealer, the one you bought it from. They may suggest an easy fix or guide you best on how to get it repaired, or at the very least suggest a place near you to have it repaired. If your dealer doesn't know, ask any Zoom dealer for repair info. Meanwhile, I assume you've checked your battery compartment to make sure the terminal connections are not loose (and of course that you've tried new batteries - :) ). Also, check Menu>Battery to see if alkaline or nickel batteries is checked. Finally, try removing your SD card and re-inserting, (even re-formatting the card, perhaps, but trying merely re-inserting first). But make sure any songs/info on the card are backed up first, because you will lose info if re-formatting the card. (For that matter, you could try a new card.)

Edirol R-09 Recorder Controls Frozen

This is a PARTIAL solution...

I've found that if I partially remove the SD-Card, then push the power button, it then starts and continues (without freezing) to show the meters and shows "no-card", then I push the SD-Card fully and it then shows "Loading"...

From there, it can be operated. But if I try to power-up with the SD-Card installed, it freezes and ceases to obey any buttons; which requires to remove the batteries to turn it off.

Please be aware that removing OR installing the SD-Card with power-on is NOT recommended, BUT is THE ONLY way my R-09HR now can be operated. I'm contacting the factory to solve this, but in the mean time, I had to record a live concert that I had promised to get recorded, so I tryed everithing and discovered the reinstallation of the SD-Card as the only thing that allowed me to get that concert.

The SD-Card that I bought for my R09HR is a Kingston 16GB. good luck, give it a try.
Sincerely, amclaussen at amarquez@imp.mx

Problems caused by "improper device removal"

the recorder has .dat files in each folder and must not be deleted. if you still have them on your computer, then you can transfer back to the recorder and the recorder should work fine

How Do I Turn Off The Power?

here is the link for the user manual for your model; http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=ICDB100&LOC=3 Best I can come up with is that you cannot turn the unit off without removing the batteries - obviously means you need to set the clock again each time. I would also try press and hold the display button, then try press and hold with all other buttons in turn, one of them may do it - the manual does not suggest this will work but it possibly could. If no luck with this then try contacting Sony; http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/support-contacts.pl?mdl=ICDB100 They may be helpful - we get mixed reports. Hope this helps :)
