sounds like you got the thing wet....DO NOT PRESSURE WASH/STEAM CLEAN ENGINE COMPARTMENT.leave the hood up and hopefully it will dry itself out,or if you can start it, let it run for an hour at least on tickover with all electrics on and a/c on full.A NICE SUNNY DAY WOULD ALSO HELP.....

with the engine running remove pos cable from battery and if it dies,bad alt.

It sounds like you might have a ignition pig tail starting to go bad

this happened to me. 99% of the time my check engine light, when it came on, meant my 02 sensor. the last time it came on, my car was sputtering and going bonkers! i freaked out and took it to my honda specialist, crying my eyes out. i'm a wimp. anyway, it was my idle air control valve. VERY cheap fix. you'll still have to have the codes on it but that could very well be it. I have a 1997 accord, basically the same car.

did you put back and connect all the ground wires trust me without these you will have problems

Try disconnecting the battery (both terminals and let set for a few hours) with ALL the accessorries on lights-heater-radio etc. This will draw all power from your system, then recconnect battery, it's worth a try even if it doesn't solve your problem. Bill

have it checked by a mechanic, you may have problems under the hood. like:

1. bad compression
2. poor electricity
3. bad fuel mix

there are a lot of reasons, but only the mechanic who can see the car can answer.
