Try a complete uninstall:
Unplug the USB cable from your PC.
Go to Control panel add or remove programs. and delete all the entries you see for HP.( If it promts a restart do not restart now)
Then open my computer> C:drive> Program files> and delete the HP Folder only (not Hewlett Packard)
Then Open C:drive> Program files> Common Files and then delete HP and Hewlett Packard folder.
Then Go to C:Drive> Windows> Temp and empty the temp folder as much as you can.
Then go to Recycle bin and empty recycle bin.
Then Insert the All-In-One CD and cancel the installation process.
Open the content of the CD> and open Util folder> Then CCC> Then click on Uninstall_L4 and follow the on screen process.
After all restart the computer.

Now if possible try downloading the print driver from HP website and install the same:

For Winxp:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=oj-40459-2&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=1119598

Then Click on download only and then install it from there.

For Winvista:http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-47754-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=1119598

Then click on download only and try installing the same

Good luck

Can't setup scanner

Hey there,
The solution is found in the accompanying software package. Assuming you have loaded the correct drivers for your machine, and installed this software package you need only to open HP essential software and click Get images.
An option of scanner should be displayed, and selected by you. From there, the software should guide you through the rest of the process to scan

HP 2520hc scanner drivers

Which driver set did you install? Did you install the HP basic drivers, the full software or the Windows XP built-in driver? The Windows OS driver usually only is the printer driver.

If you connected the USB cable before installing the HP software, you will get the OS drivers. Disconnect the USB cable and then uninstall the printer driver. (Start > Control Panel > Printers and Devices. Then right click on the printer and select Remove Device.)

Install the HP software. If you want to launch a scan from the all-in-one's front panel button, install the full software.

Next open the scan software on your computer. (This is the HP Solutions Center for most models if you use the full software.) Attempt to launch a scan from the software. Adjust the resolution and other settings as needed. Then use those settings to adjust the destinations for the front panel buttons in the software. (Settings > Scan Settings > Button Settings)

If this doesn't work, try a different USB cable, a different USB port on your computer and a direct connection (if you are using a USB hub). Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer and may fail when the printer works due to a minor cable issue. If you have the printer connected to a router or similar device to turn it into a network printer, again the scanner will not work. Again the direct connection to the computer is needed.

If you are still having trouble, can you use the all-in-one's copy function? If not, do you have any error messages? If the scanner mechanism isn't moving, the unit probably needs service. (This model doesn't have a scanner lock to protect the mechanism in transit.)

I hope this helps.

I am having problems making my scanner work - I can't scan a document from the printer/scanner/fax/copier to my laptop

How is the all-in-one connected to your computer? What OS are you using? Did you install the full software, basic drivers or the OS drivers? Are you starting your scan from the computer or the buttons on the all-in-one? Is this a newly installed printer or one that has been used several times with this computer?

The Photosmart C7180 can be used with a USB connection, wired ethernet network, wireless network, bluetooth or PictBridge. For a Mac OS, only the USB connection will work.

If you need the drivers, see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=1153754& and select your OS.

If you connected the all-in-one to the computer via a USB connection before installing the software, you may have an OS driver that does not include the scanner driver. Disconnect the USB cable then uninstall the driver. Then install the HP driver. If you do not install the full software, you will not be able to use the buttons on the scanner to launch a scan. You'll have to start the scan from the computer.

If you have the full software, the HP Solution Center is installed. This includes a monitoring program that should run when you start your computer. This listens for the press of a button on the scanner and launches the appropriate part of the HP software. However, you need to set the button destinations in this software first. I recommend manually scanning at least once to set the appropriate resolution and destination folder for your scans. Then in the Solution Center, click Settings, Scan Settings, Button Settings and then Front Panel Scan Buttons. Set these based on your default settings.

If this all-in-one has been working previously, check your connection. Scanning requires bi-directional communication with the computer and can fail even when the printer works. Try a new USB cable and a different port, if you are using that connection. If you are on a network connection, check that the firewall isn't blocking communication. (Temporarily disable the firewall to check.) In Windows, check the Devices and Printers (Win7's name) control panel and check if the scanner is a listed device. Right click on it and check the properties and status. (All-in-ones are often listed twice - as a printer and as a scanner.) HP offers a diagnostic program, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/doclink?lc=en&cc=us&product=1153754&tmp_docname=c02114802 , to check for issues with the scanner.

Try manually scanning with another program than the HP software. Windows includes some options that will acquire scans. XP, Vista and Win7 all include Paint (File > Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan). Windows7 (and some versions of Vista) include Windows Fax and Scan (click New Scan). If you have the Microsoft Live software, you also have Windows Photo Gallery (works like Paint).

If you are connect the all-in-one to a USB print server, the scanner probably won't work. Try a different type of connection.

If you are using the all-in-one on a network, make sure that the network is up and the printer has an IP address. I've seen routers lose their connection for various reasons. (Rebooting both the modem and router sometimes cures the problem.)

Please add more information on your specific scanner problem and I'll try to provide specific suggestions.

I hope this helps.

My scanner won't work, I press the button, the top green light flashes but scanner doesn't do anything. HP F2187

How are you connecting the all-in-one to the computer? If it is a wired connection that has worked in the past, try a new data cable. Scanners require bi-directional communication with the computer. Can you launch a scan from the computer? What OS are you using on the computer?

Did you install the full software from HP? The software is available here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3235686& . The buttons will only work if the full software is installed, the destination and defaults are set in the software and a monitor program is running. If installed, lauch HP Solution Center and try to scan. If you get no scanner, then you may not have completed the installation. This may require using a wired USB connection and then installing additional drivers.

If you connected the USB cable before installing the software, uninstall the driver and then disconnect the data cable. Restart the computer and install the HP software then connect the USB cable again.

I hope this helps.

I have an HP 6313 all-in-one inkjet printer/scanner/fax. At some point the driver was updated and the new version of the software does not find the scanner. I have reinstalled the software a few times...

hello

the router is irrelevent in this maytter -- its an issue with your computer and the All In One printer.

(1) did you make sure you have the correct driver for the operating system ? for instance Vista has two drivers (32 bit and 64 bit)
(2) if so, reinstall the original drivers first for the printer
(3) after installing the original drivers and applications, go to the HP setup of this software to get new driver (through the printer software, not anything else). i hope it helps

if it still does not work let me know

When i try to scan a photo my scanner says ''youneed to install or run hp software for this feature'' how do i do this?

Software included
HP Image Zone Photo & Imaging Software: HP Director, HP Photo Gallery, HP Image Editor, HP Instant Share, HP Photo Prints, HP Creative Projects, HP Quick 4 x 6 prints, HP Document Viewer, HP Send to Programs

The above software should be able to be run by inserting the cd-rom into your cd-rom or dvd-rom drive.

Once installed you'll be able to run the scanner.

HP L7680 Scanner & Software function - cD does not load fully

Hi,

This is an educated guess but your problem is most likely a driver/software file conflict which is causing the software to bork before it completes the installation.

In all honesty the HP software is bloatware that is frequently identified as more trouble than it's worth. So, my recommendation would be to try and locate a more suitable software package that will work with the scanner to do what you want instead.

You are probably best to download the basic driver only package for your unit and then completely remove the old software before installing fresh (remember to unplug the printer before you install the new drivers).

I appreciate that this is not the most elegant solution but as I noted the HP software is not overly user friendly and in the interests of retaining your hair, sanity and keeping therapy bills to a minimum I'd invest your time in finding a more suitable application that will work with a TWAIN scanner (which the HP L7680 should be).

Hope that helps and good luck...

Scanner failure

hi try not repairing the software uninstall it altogether and reinstall it using the most uptodate driver from the manufacturers website don't rely on the disc supplied with your machine because drivers on discs can get corrupted if that doesn't work the scanner is at fault and you'll have to buy a stand alone scanner i'm afraid. good luck
