Can't find my password to connect my new ipad to my Belkin network. What can I do?

I'm assuming you are referring to the pass phrase or key on the router. Originally setup when you added security to your home wlan. Find the manual online for the Belkin router and reset it to factory defaults. Then set it up again with a pass phrase you can remember.

Hi,
Have you tried plugging other devices into the same USB port? Try this to determine if the problem is with the port.

Can't get a linksys wireless G PCI adapter to connect to my belkin wireless g router

Alright, First thing is to sett up the router properly. How well experience in this are you? Do you know how to IP into it and set it up manually? do you just use the easy install disk? Do you know ow to set up the encryption key?

Im asking so i dont have to spend alot of typing, explaining something you may already know. If you dont though, its o.k. I will help you.

Typically you want to set the router up first and set an encryption key. Usually something that no one can geuss like ADMIN or PASSWORD or something easily guessed. Also you name your router, like " The Big Puff or My router or some name that no one else will have so you can easily distinguish your wireless signal from others. Default is LINKSYS and the default IP is 192.168.1.1 and the password is ADMIN.

If you flip the router upside down, you will see a spot that tells you this. Thats why you have to change it, cuz everyone knows it.

Also, you need to set the Router password too so that no one else can ip into it and change it on you.

Alot of the times, the setup disk will have a easy setup wizard that can make this easy for newbies.

You want to be sure to have a secure and functioning router. Once this is achieved, install the wireles adapter and drivers software.

You have two options, use windows to control the adapter or the belkins utility that came with it. whichever works best for you.

Now in the options you have to set up the connection or you can just findit, click and connect and enter the encryption.

If windows is running the show for the adapter, you can right click on your wireless icon in the bottom right corner and select, " VIEW AVAILABLE WIRELESS NETWORKS.

When it loads it will show all signals including yours if you set up the router right.

Yours should be the strongest signal as well.

Select it or double click it and windows will automatically try to connect and when it does it will ask for the encryption key that you gave it earlier when you set up the router.

Enter that in exactly with caps and lower case where applicable.

It should then connect.

The situation is similar when using the belkins utility instead except that its more graphically friendly.

All wireless devices are made to be used with each other and have the same FCC requirements and theoretically it should matter which brand you use, they should all be compatible if there of the same type. I.E. G or B.

Try this and let me know if you still need help.

Dont bw affraid to call linksys on setting up your wireless router. When i first started out and knew nothing, i called linkysys for help and the guy walked me through the whole thing. Same with Belkin, allthough belkin support was not as good.

My Belkin 4 port router has the same IP as my Modem so my router will not detect my DSL connection. Ive asked Belkin for help but all they send me is gobblygoop!

Hi!
I'm sorry to hear that Belkin did not help you with your problem. Let me help you with your concern instead.

Here's what we need to do:

Start by resetting the router to factory default - you just need to press and hold the rest button on the router for about 30 seconds (with the power on).

1.) Disconnect the Belkin router from your modem , connect a PC to the router (use the LAN port - either port 1 to 4).

2.) Open Internet browser - clear the address bar and type in http://192.168.2.1 , press enter. It will ask you for a password , do not type anything just press Submit. You should be able to access the router's web interface.

The router's web interface should like this (depending on the model #):

92853d1.jpg

3.) Go to LAN settings. Change the router's IP address to 10.10.10.1 (this will be the new IP address of your router) . Apply the changes. Once youapply the changes, you can access the router using the new IP - http://10.10.10.1.

4.) Reconnect your modem - router and computers. Reboot device by switching off the modem , router and PC.

5.) Power up the modem first. Wait for about 2 minutes, power up the router and restart your PC.

The steps I gave is applicable if your modem is not on bridge mode. If your modem is on bridge mode (meaning it requires a username and password from your ISP) - access again the router by going to http://10.10.10.1 and do the following:

Click Internet WAN > Connection Type and select PPPOE. Type the username and password from your ISP. Apply the settings. Reboot the modem and router.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!

Belkin G ROUTER Wireless. I have Bright House road runner fastest internet server.A Customer Service person told me that the reason for the slow performance of my lap com. including internet performance is...

Yes, that is correct because some router like the one that you have needs a software update if you're having problem with it like a slow internet connection so it will be better to call Belkin tech support and let them walk you through with that firmware upgrade and that will make your connection fast..

Hope that helps........

I am trying to hook up my wireless router at a family members home, and it wont connect to the internet.

If you have settings from your home on the routher you need to RESET IT TO FACTORY. You need to REBOOT ALL the PC's in the house on that router as well to release the IP it currently has and renew with the new router. Also reboot the roter and the cable modem so it can issue a new IP to the router.
( There should be a small reset hole on the router that you can use a paper clip to reset it.)
You also need to make sure that if they have a cable modem that the router is compatible with the modem. They can call their provider for that info.
