D52w17 chassis itc222

I have a RCA D52W17 Chassis ITC222. I got this set dead from a friend who decided to get a LCD instead of fixing this one. Seeing electronics repair is my hobby to take stress off of my regular job I thought this would be great to relax too before and after I fixed it. Anyways the flyback had a hole burned in the casing and was arching onto itself. I pulled the flyback and replaced it with a new one (OEM) fired right up. Popped in my favorite dvd and enjoyed the beautiful picture and sound. Then I noticed the picture was resizing a little. I have checked for vented and/or bulging caps and burnt resistors and found none. I expected to have to replace the horizontal output ic and a couple of caps but was surprised when it fired up before that. Could it be that the horizontal is going or did i hook the flyback up wrong. I made sure the soldering was nice and clean and the high voltage wire had good connection with the HV block Do I have the black wire in the wrong spot is it supposed to be in focus or screen on the flyback? or is there a setting that needs adjusted like a voltage regulator or something in the convergence. Other than the slight resizing its works perfect. I know this model has a protection circuit so its not anything major i dont think. Maybe im wrong lol. Any help is appreciated thanks.

You probably can't get the boots that fit over the HV connectors. What is the model of the TV and I can look it up.

SOURCE: red vert lines will not convergenge(sides) blue and green o.k.

your convergence output amps are done...
you have to do repair on the convergence output circuit, and inspect
the power supply for any damages.

It sounds like your talking about the ITC222 chassis series which is having a small signal board problem. Very common in the RCA ITC222 and ITC222A Chassis HDTV's

Rca d52w17 convergence off on 1080i signal only tv works fine with 480p signal.

you will need to adjust the geometry and convergence defaults for both the 1080 and 480 seperately then save. You can get the CD called the ITC222 chassis convergence and alignment CD which shows how to do that from www.tvrepairworld.com

RCA R52WH74 (ITC222A Chassis)

no the board that has the FL231 on is the ITC222 deflection board. The other board is above the chassis in a seperate frame that runs across the set the convergence power supply is the board on the left above the board where the fL231 is. Yes the ITC222 and ITC222A are the same chassis. As for the service manual that site should have the service manual under the thomson category as the ITC 222 chassis is actually a thomson chassis made for RCA.

Don't understand

Can you look on the rear of your set and give me the chassis number and I can explain as that model used three different chassis designs one was ITC222, then ATC221 and ATC321 it should be marked on the rear tag.

RCA D52W17 ANTENNA/CABLE ANALOG INPUT

That is an ITC222 chassis and one of the more dependable RCA units built. The "F" connector is the part you're referring to and it's not something that carries a specific part number for that unit. In the shop here we simply buy them by the box and the tuner will have to be removed to install a new connector. The new one will be soldered to the chassis of the tuner and less likely to break in the future. Not something you probably want to do yourself, but at least you'll know what to ask the shop when you're calling around for estimates.
