We regularly refill the ink cartridges on our printer with refill packages, and we've done so a handful of times with no problem, but with our most recent refill we've gotten this repeated error message that won't let us print. A window pops up saying:
"The following ink cartridge cannot be recognized. Black
Printing cannot be executed because the ink cartridge may not be installed properly or may not be compatible with this printer.
Install the appropriate ink cartridge. If you want to cancel printing, click Cancel Printing."
The only button options are the Cancel Printing, and an About Ink button that only gives the cartridge model, so it will not let us print at all. We haven't changed the cartridges we use, and we tried reinstalling the printer drivers, but there's been no luck.

Re: Printer says ink cartridge not recognized.
Take the black ink cartridge back to the person who refilled it. The Microchip that's on the cartridge was not reset properly that's why the printer is returning that error.
You can try some steps before you take it to them to verify it. 1: reseat (take out and put back in) the cartridges into place 2: buy another black cartridge just to check if it will be recognized by the printer, if it does recognize it we know the cartridge is defective. If a new cartridge is also not recognize, start to check your warranty option with the manufacturer...

Original Printer manufacturers do not recommend refilling in cartridges.
Different inks used in different cartridges differ in density, color, acidity etc. Usually refilling ink is made as universal ink. i.e. They produce the ink for 'any printer'.
The differences in the original and refiling inks might lead to the printer not recognizing the ink level.
Either buy a new cartridge or just ignore the messages.
It is called e5 error.
For Canon cartridges, after 4~5 refills, the color cartridge cannot be recognized by printer.
In this case...there is no solution so far...just replace with new cartridge.. that's it.
(To avoid e5 error, you need to make sure "plug out" the power, before take out your cartridge for refill. Yes... "plug out" the power cords!!!!
If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK". Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good. For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video. And will see how easy ink refill can be done.
HP printers will not accept refilled cartridges. Are you trying to replace your empty cartridges with refilled cartridges? There is a computer chip in the ink cartridge that tells the printer when it is out of ink. If you try and refill it yourself, the printer will not recognize that it has been refilled without replacing the computer chip in it.
I think your printer is telling you that it needs HP brand cartridges that are original and not refilled cartridges. There is no way to "reset" an hp printer to get it to use an off brand or refilled cartridge that has not had the chip changed.
You can pick up a good refilled cartridge at a professional company who knows about changing the chip for less then a third of the regular price of an HP cartridge in a department store. However, HP does not want you to use refilled cartridges and should something go wrong with your computer and they find out that you were using them they will void your warranty on your printer.
If you are not trying to replace HP brand cartridges with refilled or off brand versions, I suggest your return them to where you bought them and exchange them. They may be defective cartridges.
Put the ink cartridge onto a damp paper towel.
Does ink "bleed" onto the paper towel?
If not, then the print-heads are clogged,
and you should run the "head-cleaning" software (part of the software package for the Epson printer).
I have refilled my cartridges many, many times. A messy job, but well worth the savings. Never over fill, handle carefully.
The printer will give an error message, but just press cancel, do not order a new cartridge, Your refilled cartridge will work on the lexmark x5470. Good luck.
no,ink cartridges cannot be refilled .kodak printers dont recognize refilled cartridges and as such, ink price is very reasonable, clear liquid is white coloured ink. no cartridge resetter is available, cartridges are seated in the printhead of the printer
Using refilled in cartridges and incompatible inks result in the following problems.
Refilled ink cartridges might leak and cause product damage. One method for refilling ink cartridges is to drill a hole through the cartridge, refill the ink, and then plug it. In some cases this plug does not hold, and the ink runs into the product and damages the printed circuit boards.
Refilled ink cartridges frequently exhibit spotty printing or fail to print. This problem might be a direct result of the nozzles being plugged with dried ink. Because the vents of the refilled cartridges have been opened, air is able to enter the cartridge and dry the ink.
Refilled ink cartridges might exhibit lower print quality, for the following reasons.
Printing algorithms used to create the various colors are based on particular printer inks. Using incompatible inks might result in color matching problems.
Refilled cartridges might have damaged nozzle orifices, result in various problems with print quality.
company products to which the printer belongs to can use a time delay between pages to accommodate the properties of the specific media type and ink being used. This prevents smearing problems from one page to the next. Using incompatible ink will alter the effects of this time delay and might result in poor print quality.
printer might not recognize refilled ink cartridges. The refilling process may involve altering the ink cartridge enough that the product is unable to recognize it. The condition of the print cartridge electrical contacts deteriorates with use. This also results in the product being unable to recognize the refilled cartridge.
Refilled ink cartridges might get stuck in the product. Because the cartridges from other manufacturers have been altered, cartridges might become stuck in the product. This problem might require that the product be disassembled to remove the cartridge.
printer at times cannot predict the long-term effects on product reliability from using different ink formulations.
