1.try to upload your videos to ULEAD movie maker and save it with any types of videos you like avi, divx, vcd, dvd etc.. or

2. if your disc is readable on your pc and its not playable then try to decode it by using xilisoft video converter. decode the files on your disc and after that burn it into a dvd or vcd. it should be playable now on your dvd player. hope that helps!

I tried to dub old vcr home movies to a dvd and I accomplished that but when I tried to play dvds on my computer or other player the dvd could not be read. What do I do?

Did you finalize the disc? Make sure that you left some space on the disc after dubbing the movies. The finalization adds data onto the disc.

To finalize, put the disc back in recorder. Press Setup on the remote. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight Disc Edit and press OK. Highlight the Finalize option and press OK. Select Yes and press OK. Wait for the procedure to finish.

In the future when you record, you may want to use the Auto-Finalize option. For more information, look at the manual. The finalize and auto-finalize steps start at page 44. The manual is available here: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/z/zv427mg9_f7/zv427mg9_f7_dfu_aen.pdf .

If you did finalize the disc, then check that your computer has DVD-playing software. Starting with Windows 8, Microsoft stopped offering the Windows Media Center by default. You could purchase a DVD playback app from the Microsoft store. Alternatively, there are third-party DVD playback programs. VLC is free, https://www.videolan.org/ . Others, including Cyberlink PowerDVD, cost money.

Some DVD players do not read all discs. Some only read DVD-R (DVD-RW) even after the disc is finalized.

I hope this helps.

Hi I have a rc199h dvd video recorder and i no it's discontinued but i can't find my manual. I just dubbed a vcr tape to a dvd but how do i convert it to see on my tv or computer?

To read the disc on other machines, you need to finalize the DVD in the machine that you wrote to the disc. Press Home on the remote, and go to the Disc Settings menu. Select the second line (Finalize) and press the right arrow. With Finalize selected press Enter. Then select OK and press Enter. (Please note that you need to leave space on the disc for the finalization information to be stored.) Wait for the finalization to be completed.

If you do not have the original remote, you will need one that matches the Home button feature. An exact replacement remote is available here: http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=RC199H&uuid=12978352098280 .

The manual for the LG RC199H is available at retrevo: http://www.retrevo.com/support/LG-RC199H-DVD-Players-manual/id/366ag209/t/2/ . You will need to answer a question to prove that you are actually using the computer.

I hope this helps.

I cannot play burned dvd's from this system in other dvd players becahse I cannot finalize the dvd. How do I finalize?

The recording may have used all the media on the disk because you let it run until it was full.
Now, there is no room to finalize the disk.

Play this back on the machine where it was recorded while recording it to another DVD recorder..
This time, BE THERE to stop the recording.
Set the recorder to a speed that leaves at least 10 minutes extra space for finalization.

How is a disc finalized?

Hi, you have to go into the settings, just to point out, you can only finalize discs that have been recorded on the dvd recorder not from any other machine or pc.
http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMREZ47V-MUL.PDF
And read page 11.
I hope this helps.

My disc records fine, plays great on the Magnavox, but no other player can read the disc?

You must finalize a disc before it can play on other machines. Please refer to your documentation for how to finalize a disc.

Unit cant recoginze/ read a disk

Randy,

I had a dvd-r disc recorded from a Philips dvd recorder that had not yet been finalized when the Philips went bezerk and died. I replaced it with the Sony GX300 and just for an experiment, tried to finalize it in the Sony

It worked. Not to say that it has to work with only THIS combination of the 2 same dvd recorders or twisting the scenario around with the Sony doing the recording and the Philips doing the finalizing. I also have a Sony dvd/vcr recorder to compliment the GX300. I will have to record a disc on the GX300 and try to finalize it with the combo unit to see if it will do well as a back up.

Right now a disc that is not full yet (home movie from my kids birth) is reading "Disc Error" on the GX300. I may have to do it over or see if the combo unit will do the same finalizing as the GX300. It doesn't have the amount of features that the GX300 has but thats what you get with a combo unit vs. a stand alone recorder/player.

If you know someone with another recorder, try to finalize on it. If not , you could find someone on this sight that has a GX300 and mail the discs plus a smalll fee and have them mailed back. Or you could find a used one cheap at some store and return it if it doesn't finalize.

Good luck

I don't know if this will help, but according to the operator's manual I have, on page 64, the only place it mentions "Full" or "Quick" Preparation, is when using a DVD-RW disc. Apparently, with this type of disc, you must use the Full or Quick preparation INSTEAD of Finalizing after you're thru recording onto the disc.
With the DVD-R and DVD+R, all you can do is "Finalize"; With the DVD+RW, if I'm reading this correctly, NIETHER Finalization OR Preparation is required.
But with the DVD-RW, apparently ALL you can do is a "FULL" or "QUICK Preparation.
If you're only getting "Erase or "Finalize" WITH the DVD-RW, then it appears there may be a problem with the machine.
Or, if you're attempting the "FULL or QUICK" Preparation with any disc OTHER than the DVD-RW, all you should get is "erase" or Finalize", since the QUICK or FULL Preparation is not done with discs other than DVD-RWs.

Hope this helps. I'm certainly not an expert on these things....I'm a "Vinyl" type guy.
