Routers usually come with a setup CD. Run the setup CD on a computer connected with a network cable to the D-Link router.

Then use the computer with the wireless card without a network cable connected to connect to the wireless network connection.

You should be able to see in the taskbar an icon that you can right click to select a wireless connection.

Why will it not hook to the wireless internet? I have netgear and I have the little thing that plugs in to the computer...

To connect your computer to the Internet via a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

My computer is not connecting to my Dynex wireless router. I've called my locate cable subscriber and they told me that it's a router problem. I've disconnected the router several times and it shows that...

First off, verify that you can connect to your cable modem directly. After that, hook up your Dynex wireless router and reboot your cable modem. After this, directly connect your computer to the Dynex router (using a cable). If you cannot get an Internet connection, then there is some issue with your Dynex router configuration. It's possible that there might be an IP address conflict with the cable modem. It would be best to contact support for configuring the Dynex.

If you can connect to the Internet with your computer connected directly to the Dynex router, then there must be some router configuration problem affecting your ability to connect wirelessly. You'll have to check the configuration--might be a good idea to completely reset the router and start over. If that doesn't help, you should contact Dynex customer support, as each router has its own configuration specifics. Good luck.

It says i am connected to wi fi internet but cannot browse it says see article 871122 microsoft knowledge base on microsoft.com please help do i need to download something.

1.) Pls. use the software for your wi fi adapter, connected on desktop to connect to the wireless lan.
2.) microsoft: This behavior occurs for several reasons. Some computer and hardware manufacturers provide their own configuration software that replaces the Wireless Zero Configuration service that is provided in Windows. In that case, you must use the software that is provided by the manufacturer to configure your wireless network. If you want to use the Wireless Network Setup Wizard or the View Available Wireless Networks feature to configure your wireless device, see the documentation that came with your computer or with your wireless network card. Use this documentation to determine whether you can use the Wireless Zero Configuration service to configure your wireless network. Sometimes, you cannot use the Windows functionality.

If your computer or your wireless network adapter did not come with its own wireless network software, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. Click Network Connections.
  3. In Network Connections, click to select your wireless connection, and then click Change settings of this connection.
  4. On the Wireless Networks tab, click to select the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings check box.

To start the Wireless Zero Configuration service, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s, and then click OK.
  2. Double-click Wireless Zero Configuration.
  3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.
  4. In the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK.

D-link di-524up configuring router with bigpond

Hello cook_ka

You can find information about and downloads for your "DI-524UP 54 Mbps Wireless Broadband Router Plus Print Server" HERE on D-Link's Australia & New Zealand regional web site.

You can find its product manual HERE. Please, download this manual. (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF file reader in order to open the file.)

In order to access the router and get it configured initially, connect a computer to any one of the router LAN ports (NOT the WAN port) using an Ethernet patch cable.

The instructions for configuring your router begin on page 8 of the product manual.

This router has a configuration wizard as well. Instructions for using the configuration wizard begin on page 10 of the manual.

NOTE-1: The default IP address of your router is 192.168.0.1

NOTE-2: Don't try to access the router wirelessly until you have the router configured and your connection to the Internet working (using a "wired" connection from your computer to the router).

NOTE-3: I assume that, since your ISP is BigPond, that your Internet access connection is ADSL. In that case, you are going to need your ADSL login credentials (primary account user name and password) in order to configure the WAN side of your router settings.

Please, let us know if this information was helpful to you or, of course, if you have any further questions.
