With my hold switch toggled to off, once in a while the device will flicker between hold and un-hold. Like i said the hold switch is not engaged. I think it may be an internal hardware problem, where the switch is making some contact even when it is switched not to.

Ok i have looked into the Issue you are having and concluded that the most likely solution is to reset the device, to do so follow these steps:
1: Place the device on a flat, level surface
2: Toggle the Lock/Hold switch to the LOCK position, then place it in the UNLOCK position
3: Finally, press and hold both the Play/Pause and the Menu buttons AT THE SAME TIME until the Apple logo appears onscreen
reset it then plug it in it usually work for me to reset there are 2 ways 1) toggle "hold" switch on off three times making sure hold switch is off the press n hold down menu and center button from 3 to 10 seconds or untill apple logo appears 2) same as above but without toggling hold switch press and hold menu and center button till apple logo ppears then plug in cable to ipod and then in to ur computer

Press the AB button to toggle between Audio Play, Radio, and Voice Record. Use the left/right scroll to highlight Radio. Then press the center button or play/pause button once to select radio.
You will see FM Radio in the upper left corner of the display. Under that you will see either Preset followed by a number OR Channel. If it is on Preset, you can use the left/right scroll to switch between preset stations. If you press and hold the AB button, the player will scan through all frequencies to find the strongest stations in your area and set those as the default preset stations. When on a particular station, press and hold the record button to delete that station from your presets.
Press the center button once to switch to Channel (or back to Preset). Under Channel, you can manually scroll through the frequencies yourself. Push left or right and hold for about a second to find the next available station.
Press the play/pause button once to toggle between Mono and Stereo.
Those are all the functions I've found so far. Hope it helps.
Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!

My 2 GB nano shows the lock icon no matter how many times I toggle the hold switch on and off and press the Menu/Select buttons. I've recharged and restored it any number of times with no luck. Computer recognizes it when I plug it in but once I unplug it, none of the buttons work. When it's plugged in and fully updated, it shows the languages menu. I'll be eternally grateful to anyone who can offer any assistance!
