I don't think the FX 5200 supports DVI. If I remember right this card only supports VGA. Hope this helps.

I figure I need a replacement graphics card. The PC worked fine yesterday. Turned it on today and no signal to monitor. Tried both DVI and HDMI with the same result. Monitor is Gateway LP2417.

try pulling the power cord out of the monitor and then wait 30 seconds and pull it back in to monitor . Are you dealing with a graphics card or a motherboard video chip. May have DVI and HDMI plugged into motherboard rather than PCI video card. Check Bios to see if conflict exists between motherboard video chip and PCI video card.

Using with a laptop

Connection the monitor depends on the connections you have out of your Toshiba laptop.

The monitor has both VGA and DVI.

If the Toshiba has a VGA out, all you need is a VGA cable available online, computer or electronics store.

If the Toshiba has an HDMI out, you can connect it to the DVI on the monitor with an HDMI cable and an HDMI to DVI Adapter.

You can also use USB out with either a VGA converter or a DVI converter (go with DVI for the better picture). Converters can be found online at Amazon, you may also need a standard male to male DVI cable to use with the converter.

You need a HDMI to DI cable not HDMI to d-sub cable. The sellers that are selling that cable do not tell you that it will only work with special video cards that output analog to the HDMI connector. HDMI is digital and so is DVI so they will adapt to each other. Keep in mind that this is for video only, sound will not work on the monitor because the DVI port does not support sound. You will need to add a set of speakers to the Xbox

Hi,

I suggest try the HDMI connection on your machine and see if its able to give display, since you purchase a new Video Card I assume it have a HDMI port. Or try different monitor with a DVI port if you really want a DVI connection, If it works it means the DVI port on your monitor is faulty.

Hope it helps.

The problem might be with your ram. Try taking it out and putting it back in. You might also have a problem with the video card. Make sure it is secure and screwed in.

Well i thinking about hooking my t.v. to computer with out unhooking computer screen. i need to know were to plug in the t.v.

This will only work if you have a graphics card with two outputs; if you do, they will be right next to eachother, and will be a s-video (small round) VGA (blue) DVI (white) or HDMI (trapezoid).

Clicking noises coming from monitor with hdmi cable attached to computer have no problems with other connections that came with monitor

Try getting a video card, if not look for a new monitor.

Reason i say get a video card your motherboard is probably working to hard depending on how old your pc is. When getting the video card it takes stress off the board when monitor is plugged into video card.
