Hey the only thing you gotta do is hold the lens while it is going out, then have it like that for 5 seconds, then turn of the camera, and i think that will do..
cause that happened to my panasonic and thats how i fixed it.

It seems to me that you are in one of the modes where the camera is controlling the settings.
What do you mean when you say "Back the lens off?"

Please turn the camera off and then on again.
Use one of the creative modes and see what you get. I suggest Aperture Priority.

Auto Focus works on contrast, so please ensure that there is sufficient light and contrast when you are testing.

Also, if you have another lens please try with that to isolate the issue.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

Thank you.

You must get your cam serviced... due to **** your motor (which operates lens movement has stop working. or the lens has bent and therefore stucking..... taping lightly near the lens may help you... The common reason for motor not working is loss of power connection....

Hope this has helped you..

The lens wont go back in and it wont turn on help

Sorry to tell you but you have to send the camera in for repairs. The 1st frame and cam frame could be damaged or could need resetting and alignment. Please dont force it back into the camera body as you could cause more damage which would make the camera unrepairable/too costly.

This happened to me once. SOMETIMES you can correct this yourself. The lens must be extending from the camera at EXACTLY 90 degrees if the lens is crooked, then straighten it, gently! If you succeed, the lens may retract as it is supposed to. You could also futher damage it with this procedure, so THINK ABOUT IT FIRST.

verify the battery is charged, this has happened to me. the battery dies without warning and the camera just hangs in its last state, usually with the lense extracted.
