How do I clean the lint from my Model #110.72952100 gas dryer

Hello Bob;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

I assume you are not referring to the lint filter on the top of your dryer.

Behind your dryer is a elongated hot air distribution manifold. Looking from the back of your dryer it is on the left. The manifold is fixed to the back of the dryer with screws. Unscrew the screws and remove the cover.
In the bottom of this manifold is where air flow blockage occurs. Clean this inlet out.
At this location you will not be exposed to any electrical or moving parts.
Cleaning this outlet will enhance the dryer air flow and dryer performance.

KENMORE DRYER JUST STOPPED HEATING UP WHAT CAN I DO TO REPAIR IT?

Replace the Heating Element. The heating element is usually located behind a panel on the back. To replace you will need to remove the back cover of the dryer, then locate the heating element. The heating element is screwed into place and is easy to unscrew and replace. Be sure to have the dryer unplugged while doing this.
Here is the part for it:

How do I take off the back to get to elements and fuse on my kenmore elite dryer, I took screws off but the top appears to be welded.

Getting to the heating circuits is not the same on every model of dryer. Some dryers have heating circuits in the REAR of the dryer, some have the heating circuits located inside the cabinet UNDER the drum and others have heating circuits BEHIND the drum.

If your dryer has the lint screen on the TOP of the unit, you will need to remove the BACK panel of the dryer to expose the heating circuits.

If the dryer has the lint screen in the DOOR, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door by using a putty knife to release the retaining clips. They will be located along the seam in the front about 2 inches in from each side. If this is a Kenmore Elite or Whirlpool Duet, the lower toe panel comes off by removing the screws under the bottom edge of the panel.

If you do not have a toe panel, you will need to lift the dryer top and remove the entire FRONT panel to access the internal components.

If you have further questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER so I can determine how your dryer is constructed.

I need to change the belt for my Kehmore Series 80 dryer

HI. this guide will help you replace this worn belt. make sure you have safely unplugged this unit before initiating this procedure.

1 From the top of the dryer, remove the lint trap. Using your screwdriver, unscrew the assembly that houses the lint screen and remove it from the dryer, setting it aside.

2 Using your screwdriver as a lever, insert it under the front right side of the dryer, between the top and the body. Press down to force the top slightly up from the body. Repeat this process on the left side, and lift the top off the dryer.

3 Remove the lower panel from the dryer by inserting the screwdriver into each side and rotating to release the clips that hold it in place. Slide your phone book under the now-exposed dryer drum so that the drum will be supported.

4 Loosen the screws at the bottom of the front cover, but do not remove them (this allows access to the belt without requiring you to remove and replace the entire front cover). Move to the top of the dryer, and remove the screws holding the front of the dryer in place. (These will be located at the top, behind the front.) Tip the cover toward you, exposing the drum, and slip the broken belt off the drum without fully removing. Slip the new belt over the drum, and lift up on the drum while returning the cover to the closed position. Replace the screws to the front cover and tighten the lower screws. Remove your phone book from its position under the drum.

5 Check the rear drum seal to the back of the dryer, and position the new belt identical to the old, with the textured side facing down.

6 Directing your attention to the motor area, remove the old belt and feed the new belt through, passing the entire belt, doubled over, under the idler pulley. Push the belt toward the motor pulley, placing the belt around it, and allow the tension to release on the idler pulley.

7 With your hand inside the dryer drum, rotate the drum counterclockwise to ensure that the belt has been properly installed. Replace the top of the dryer, exerting downward pressure for a snug fit, followed by replacing the lint screen assembly, and the lint trap, and then replacing the lower front cover.

8 Run the dryer for several minutes to ensure that the dryer is operational and that you have installed your belt correctly.

My kenmore dryer turns on and heats but

Hi, It is most likely the belt. Here are the instructions for the most common dryer. If this doesn't match up to you style dryer, please let me know your model # and I can assist you. UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners. The front should lift off.
There should be instructions that came with the belt. I will try and explain how this goes on. The idler pulley fits in a slot right in front of the motor. Put the belt over the drum with ribs touching drum. Now, thread the belt through the idler pulley wheel and bracket and set the belt on the motor pulley. The ribs should rest in the grooves on the motor pulley. I am also sending you a picture of how the belt threads through the idler pulley.
I hope this helps you. If I can assist you further, please let me know.
Thanks

How to get into the cabinet? I have a Kenmore Dryer that hums but the drum won't turn, maybe belt! Model # 110 62942100 thanks, tom

Hi,

Kenmore dryer belt

  • UNPLUG DRYER
  • remove lint filter
  • remove two screws in lint filter panel securing cabinet lid to filter frame
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade, depress clips ~2inches in from the front corners of the lid to release cabinet lid
  • tilt lid up
  • remove 1 screw from each side 1/3 the way down
  • remove cabinet front and door
  • motor bearings tensioner are all visible

  • lift out drum forwards
  • check support rollers felts and nylon glide bearings for wear
(worn bearing surfaces are the most common cause of belt breakage, and you dont want to do it again next month)
  • make sure tensioner is still installed in cabinet base, sometimes breaking belts pull them out
  • loop belt around drum at prior wear marks
  • reinsert drum
  • pull tensioner to end of travel against spring
  • loop belt around motor pully and tensioner
  • relax tensioner
  • rotate drum by hand to make sure belt wont jump off.
Thanks

Heating element

IF you have the dryer pictured above,

You'll have to remove the console (screws behind covers on endcaps.) Then flip the console up and remove three screws holding the top panel down. Slide the top panel toward you and remove. Disconnect light and door switches (top front left.) Remove the toe panel (putty knife on two tabs top left and right.) Open the door and remove the lint screen. Close the door and remove the metal triangular box around the lint screen. Remove the screws at each corner of the front panel. Lift and rotate the front panel slightly clockwise to get the basket off the rollers. Reach under the basket to disconnect the belt from the motor. Lift the belt and the basket out of the machine. You can now reach the heater on the bottom left.

Before you do anything, unplug the machine, remove the lint screen, toe panel, and metal box and check the white plastic thermal fuse on top of the blower housing with an ohm meter. It should read less than one ohm.
