Check and see if you can copy and paste that file from it's location and place it on the desktop. Basically seeing if you can move that file within your PC. If this is a work computer, it might have precautions built-in to write protect it's documents. If you can move the file around in your computer then it's probably a problem with your flash drive. Can you copy anything to the drive?, such as a simple text file, music, etc. I'm also assuming that you checked the properties on the drive itself to make sure it wasn't locked. You could also try another flash drive to eliminate the possiblilty of your stick being defective.
Let me know how you do.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I am trying to save to my NEW PNY usb flashdrive and it keeps telling me it's write protected. There is NO switch or anything to unprotect this thing. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Depending on what you are trying to save, the file or files might be write protected. If it is just music, it should transfer fine. Assuming your using a PC, if you right click on the file your trying to transfer and click properties, it will have options such as "read only" or "hidden", make sure none of those are checked. You can also do the same for your new flashdrive if you view that drive in "My Computer" from the start tab.
Good luck, hopefully that's the problem.

PNY 4 G USB DISK IS WRITE PROTECTED

Not sure what exactly is happening when you try to use the disk. Is it a used disk? Did you just purchase it? Do you get an error when trying to use it?

From the limited information, I would suggest going to the website and seeing if there is a solution from PNY: http://www2.pny.com/support/support_landing_cat.aspx?SectionID=1143 (their support page).

If it still doesn't work, post more details & I'll see if I can help.

Have a good day!
