Re: Power sources

AA Alkaline and Ni-MH batteries can be used. Dedicated AC adapter(3V/1.7A) (sold separately) also can be used. The other AA size batteries cannot be used.

The camera will not turn on, batt r charged. Internal batt is good

How do you know that batteries are fully charged? If it won't power up then the indicator won't tell you their level. Pull both batteries. Push the power button (using what minimal power is left anywhere in the system.) Plug the camera into the external power source (mine has a base that will charge your battery, and supplies a cord for power to the camera.). If it still doesn't power up with the external power source, then I would say there's something wrong, but I'm betting it's the battery/batteries.

It will not power on even when connected to power source, it has been sitting for 10 years. It is an 8mm. The was no problem when it was put away.

Hi

Normally it will be a battery problem. Try to replace the battery first. But wait connect the camera to power source and leave it for some time as a little juice in the battery will get charged and the camera will start working normally. You can replace the battery latter.

The canon xlh1 camcorder, can someone tell me which on camera auto light works auto on this camcorder in low light, i've asked lots of sellers of canon video camera lights and nobody seems to know they...

Hi Gerry,

I don't know but I think the chat session was disconnected. Anyway, there is product from Canon itself and the model of the video light is VL-3 Video Light.

http://pc.pcconnection.com/1/1/10726-canon-usa-video-vl-3-video-light-3175a002.html

"Optional light sources provide extra illumination when shooting either video or still images. The VL-3 Video Light connects to the Advanced Accessory Shoe and is powered directly by the camcorder. Therefore, no cables are required."

This is should be compatible with the camcorder you are using.

Please advise for the results.

Screen will say: for use with compatible battery only

How old is the battery? Rechargeable batteries are only meant to last a couple years at most. If the battery is older than that, consider replacement. Amazon usually is a good source for good generic replacements at reasonable cost.

Dead batteries when fully charged

Does it work with "no batteries" - only plugged into power source? check your usb cable by trying to power up something else.

You can charge your camera directly or by using the cradle that came with your camera. With either option you use the USB port on your PC as the power source OR the wall adapter as the power source. You can see images to do this on the User's Manual on pages 11-12.

You can turn on the power with either a long or a short press. You will get a good idea how long a press should be by counting from the time you press the button to the time the display comes on. This is usually 1-3 seconds.

Locate local source for usb cable and user manual

Don't ever buy another USB cable for any camera MariamAli. Buy San Disks mini card reader MobileMate SD+, plug your mem card, SD,SDHC, or MicroSD, into it, then plug MobileMate directly into your USB port.

Saves lugging around a bulky, and unique, USB Cable and saves on your camera battery power, that otherwise is needed to power USB Cable download from camera.

Available at RadioShack, Staples, and most anywhere SD Mem Cards are sold. $15 it think.

Even when I immediately switch power source (AC adapter or External Battery Pack) right after the low-battery icon started to blink, the camera operation is still locked.

In cases where the blinking low-battery icon appears indicating insufficient power, wait approximately 8 seconds until the LCD monitor display and the EVF become blank. Then switch to another power source or replace with fresh batteries.
