Question about Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Blurry Images Hi, I have a coolpix 5700 and sometimes when I take pictures with it and later go look at them on the camera's display they start out blurry and then "snap" into focus. However, when I later load them on my computer, they remain blurry. I can't find anything in the manual describing this phenomenan but it really annoys me because the pictures look so good on the camera, but I can't get that quality on my print outs or monitor display. Does anyone know anything about this? I'd like to shut that feature off so I know immediately if the pictures are blurry or not and I'd also like to be able to fix up my old pictures but I'm afraid they are lost. Thank you

Re: Blurry Images

The camera display is a two-stage progressive display. The image is roughed out, then the interleaving lines are filled in. This has no effect on the image itself, just the monitor display. Apart from the media, digital photography is the same as film photography, and subject to the same challenges and requires the same time-honored techniques. If your pictures are blurry, you may be shaking the camera. Practice holding the camera firmly to your eye, and squeeze (don't poke) the shutter release. If you are holding the camera at arms length to shoot - what can I say? You can also increase the ISO speed, so that the shutter speed is faster. You may not be focusing on the right area. Focus on the subject (line up the box in the viewfinder), particularly on the eyes, by pressing half-way on the shutter release. Holding, to lock the focus, re-point the camera to compose the picture before pressing the shutter release the rest of the way. Make sure you hold the shutter release and wait the 1/2 second or so for the exposure to complete (the 5700 is painfully slow), indicated by the "green" light in the eyepiece, before whipping the camera from your face.

COOLPIX 5700

Nikon approved CompactFlash memory cards up to 256MB in size for the 5700. The 5700 may be able to handle cards as large as 1GB, but I haven't tested this personally. When this camera was introduced in 2002, 256MB was a really big card. Many older cameras can't handle the 2GB, 4GB and larger cards we're seeing today.

Blurry images on a Coolpix 5700?

This camera was in the time when the ccd had problems.

Call Nikon concerning your camera. You can send it to them, they will estimate it, and may repair it for free if it is the ccd problem.

Nikon E5700 digital camara. Camara turns on, everything looks good, shutter opens but only see black through the view finder, monitor and will only take black pictures. I reset camera to factory...

There is a service advisory out for Nikon E5700.

t has come to our attention that in a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 3500, 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700 and SQ digital cameras, an electronic component may, in some instances, fail affecting your camera's performance and/or operability.

While only a limited number of COOLPIX 3100, 3500, 4500, 5000, 5400, 5700 and SQ digital cameras are affected by this advisory, if your camera presents symptoms that can include (1) images with a strong color tint, (2) images that are totally black and/or (3) images with visible defects, Nikon will, upon confirmation that the problem is associated to this Service Advisory, service your camera free of charge.

Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digital Camera - SB flashing and cannot take picture

Not to buy a Nikon Coolpix anymore.
This is a very bad camera. I had this same error last year. The camera was sent to Japan once, returned to me and worked for six months.
Now is the same problem: SB light in red doesn't let me take pictures in light conditions when flash is needed.
So, you'd better think in buying a camera, not Nikon, please.
