If you are using the internal amplifier of the radio your problem is the amp IC blown. I can give you the part number of it if you plan on replacing the IC yourself. If you do not have a soldering iron, solder, and solder wick (to remove solder from the bad IC), you would not be able to do this.

If you are using external amplifiers you have a common problem that is also going to require that you replace a component that is also soldered onto the circuit board. That component is a surface mounted fuse for the RCA outputs of the radio. It is not the normal type of fuse that is like a glass fuse or blade fuse inline on the wiring. This would be a fuse that is very small and right on the circuit board.

This solution is valid if I understand your problem properly, that your radio has no audio output from the tuner or the CD player at any time and only a popping noise when it is turned on.

I repair these type of electronics for a living. I work at an authorized Pioneer service center. So I do know what I am talking about. If you require any further help just let me know, reply to this post and I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you have a multimeter to check voltages II can even guide you thru troubleshooting the exact problem so you will not be just guessing at which of these two problems it may be.

If you have found this free information to be useful, a FixYa! rating would be appropriate and very much appreciated.

Every time i go over a speed bump, gravel, pothole, the pioneer deh 1300 cuts out (the lights go out), music stops playing and i have to press on the detachable faceplate for the unit to turn on again.

sounds like there is a loose connection at the face plate to the deck. I would use a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol or alcohol based glass cleaner and clean the terminals first and if that doesn't work you can try to bend the tabs a slight amount (be very careful not to bend them too much or they will break) to make a tighter connection. Hope this helps.

My Pioneer DEH-4900IB plays music but there is no power to the unit. I can't turn it on or off, change volume, see a display but it still plays music. How can it do that?

I just had the same problem with my Pioneer radio. I pulled the radio fuses from my car's fuse box. This essentially forced the radio to turn off. A couple days later I placed the fuses back in and the radio functioned normally. Hopefully this will work for you.

My Pioneer car stereo recognizing the songs on my IPod 3G

I had this exact same problem. Here is how I just figured out how to fix it. First of all, my friend as an iTouch as well, so I plugged his iTouch into my DEH-P4000UB, similar to your 3100UB, and it actually worked and played music. So I went to my Music then selected a song and pressed pause. I turned on the car and then plugged the USB cable into my iTouch, exactly the same as yours. When I replugged my iTouch into my deck it gave me a different error this time, Error-19. Refreshing but still frustrating. So I turned off the car, unplugged the USB cable and tried it one more time. This time I selected "Repeat" on the song, don't ask me why, but this is exactly what I just did. I turned on the car, plugged the USB and it worked!!!

I understand your frustration and I've been dealing with it for a while now. So hopefully this helps. Good Luck!
