No. GPS units are receive only. Yes some have an FM & bluetooth transmitters but the transmitting range is very limited to just a few feet.

My advice to you is use the Garmin 4-digit lock and change the splash screen to show something like:

"Property of (your first name)"
"Your email address"
"Your phone number"
"Reward for GPS return"

Also, put a text file on Nuvi's directory with the same info.

Write your serial number down and keep it in a secure place.

This won't prevent it from getting stolen but will make it known that it is and you might just get it back. Doing nothing will certainly gurantee you won't get it back.

Good luck!

My tomtom Go Live 1535TM was stolen at Vallejo Plaza, along redwood st and sonoma Boulevard

There is one thing you can do if you have the serial number of your device. You can find it on the device itself and on a sticker on the packaging of your device. If your device was registered to your TomTom account, you could try contacting TomTom support by phone and ask if they can give you the serial number when you provide them you're account data.
Once you have the serial number you go to the police station and inform them your device was stolen. If you're lucky, one day the police will find the gagsters who stole your GPS, and if they find lots of stolen products, they will probably check the police computer to check if the serial numbers are reported as stolen.

My tom tom was stolen can it be located with gps?

No, a GPS device will only receive signals from the satellites in space. A GPS will never transmit any signal to the satellites because it's a one way communication.
If you have the serial number (you can find it on the device itself or on the box) you could go to the police and inform them your GPS was stolen and provide them your serial number. If you're lucky and the police finds a gang of thieves and they find lot's of stolen things, they will check the serial numbers through the police computer to check if they're not reported as stolen. Then there is a chance you will get your GPS back.

If I have a garmin 50lm and I got it stolen and they reset it after they turn it on can be be trace or track by law enforcement??????

Car GPS units are receivers only. They do not have a transmitter that can be used for tracking. I am sorry that it was stolen. Report it to Garmin and the police. Also, post it at the following link so people can be made aware of it:

Tom tom was stolen how do i trace it

Hello,

There is no way to trace it, if it was stolen as it runs off a satelight. Only way is if you registered it and had it linked to your cell phone. Cell phones for example can be traced, because when you have a cell phone, you can link it up with the phone number on a web sight and go onto a computer and enter in number and the link will search your phone based on the number and gps location of the phone. But when you have a portable gps like yours, it is impossible to locate it via any computer unless you had some program prior to link it with your computer or cell phone. I am really sorry about that. I hope you find the person that stole it. Thanks Mike

My device has been stolen how to find its last location

Your GPS is a receive only device. It transmits no signals to locate it.

My garmin GPS was stolen from my car. How can I lock it remotely. Is it possible to trace it

You cannot lock the unit remotely. If you have entered a PIN on the unit, it will not be usable to whomever stole it as it will ask for the PIN every time it is turned on. Unfortunately, as it comes from the factory, it cannot be traced, either. I'm sorry. I had one stolen, too.

Stolen garmin

No, the unit can not be tracked by radio signals as its a receive only device, however I would contact garmin and let them know (in addition to your local police dept.) that it has been stolen. If you buy a new GPS there are measures you can take to prevent theft & help recover a stolen GPS. Please see this link:

How do i locate my lost tomtom gps

Hi,
If your meaning can you track the GPS, no you cannot track a GPS unless it has a tracker fitted, you cannot trace it if it has been stolen,
Ironically, they work in the opposite way to a tracker, it is a locater, not a tracker

Is it possible to track a stolen GPS with the serial number?

Garmin has a large hard drive with all the points of interest inside the device.
All the device does is read the GPS coordinates that are broadcasted by the GPS satellites and processes data based on what it receives. It doesn't need to send any information to a central server.
If GPS was able to communicate two ways, there wouldn't be a need to purchase map upgrades for new roads, points of interest, etc...
I just got my Garmin stolen within the past 23 hours, and as much as I wish there was a way, there isn't...
