Denon AVR-1804 has no HDMI slot, I bought a converter for HDMI to AV hookup, but can't get either sound or picture from my PS3. I have 5 plugs, red, white, green blue and red and not sure which plugs they need to go to work, if they will at all
If you don't have a user guide, go to:
usa.denon.com From there, you can click on Support and search for archived info...you will find a pdf there.
Of your five plugs, a red and white next to each other will plug in to the audio in on your denon (Red is for Right) I would use something like the VCR-3 pair on the left side of the rear panel. The other three, Red Green and Blue are for Video Component In on the denon; Use either Video-1 or Video-2 in the component section on the right half of the rear panel.
At his point, it will be best to look at the manual, because you will have to pair the two items together in the menu system. It takes a little patience but isn't too hard.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I'm having the same problem with my Wii output. The manual for the Denon AVR-1312 says that analog video signals (i.e. component/composite outputs from the Wii) are not converted to digital video signals (i.e. HDMI output from the rcvr). I'm running only HDMI to a projector, so the video signal is essentially lost. The fix appears to be to run an additional composite cable all the way to the projector. Sounds like your fix is the same. No Wii tonight! :(
Stop guessing. Have you looked at all the manuals?
The other devices you're inquiring about are not named in your post. Name the makes and models first, then we'll look for the manuals. Then (maybe) find a solution. You could run them by the manufacturers' support sites or these guys...

Google search: "(product) manual"
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Denon-AVR-589-Receivers-manual/id/23110dj893/t/2/ This is a site where you can download a manual. I'm not familiar with Denen however, you should be able to go out of satellite receiver(HDMI) to your receiver input(tv/sat) then to your HDMI input on tv. Your receiver might show video and sound through another port of receivers options, ie; video 1, video 2, etc. Check all putput options for your picture and sound. Hope this helps.
Long and painful answer!!! However, in the end, you need to bypass HDMI thru your receiver and go direct to the TV. Connect Digital Coaxial or Optical for audio to your receiver. Your version of HDMI in your receiver is not compatable with today's HDMI version. Yours is 1.1a and the current version is 1.3b going to 1.4. If you want detailed info as to "why", just google "HDMI 1.1 problems" you can read for hours! Sorry for the bad news! However, it is what it is. Hope this helps.
