If the green cycle light is flashing on then off, this usually means the cycle is paused. The lid lock should unlock when in pause mode, if not you will need to press and hold the "Pause/Play" button to clear the cycle completely, if there is water in the unit, it will drain first, then unlock the lid and be on standby to start a new cycle. This is usually caused by a bad lid switch. Whirlpools are known for lid switch issues. If the lid switch is not telling it that the lid is closed, it will not spin. Look where the lid switch is and press on the lid directly above it -- it may start. This will prove it. You can find an exploded view (and get the part) at www.appliancepartspros.com
if unit is stoppin in rinse cycle and not advancing into drain/spin mode. you lift the lid and its stalled full of water??? clos the lid again and listen for a slight "clicking" noise, chances are you lid switch has gone bad, and the machine does not recognize the door being closed, and for safety reasons will not drain/ and or spin..very common issue!
DOES IT DO THIS ON EVERY WASH OR SOMETIMES? IF SOMETIMES, CHECK LID SWITCH( THERE'S A LITTLE HOLE WHEN YOU OPEN THE LID, ON THE LID SHOULD HAVE A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE THAT GOES IN THAT HOLE. THE SWITCH IS UNDER, INSIDE THAT HOLE. YOU CAN GET A PEN OR KEY TO SEE IF IT'S BROKEN.)
This is likely a lid switch problem. They tend to get weak and work sometimes and sometimes not. When it stalls like that try pushing down on lid and see if it kicks in. If so you need to replace the lid switch
Yes! The lid/door WILL UNLOCK after a 45 to 60 second delay, This is for YOUR SAFETY this action prevents you from opening the lid/door to a coasting washbasket. You CAN or WILL be seriously injured if you insert your hand(s) into the machine before the washbasket stops!
