I have recently purchase the sony ps3 80gb and connected it to my SONY HDTV via sony HDMI cable. Now, every so often there is no sound from ps3. TV speakers are okay and I verified by switching to cable. I have updated to latest firmware but problem persists. Please help
I will be playing a game when about an hour threw my sound goes off my sound is hooked up to the dvd player so i get better stuff i don't know but after the hour it shuts off the i turn it back on and it willbut then 10 mins later it shuts off again why is this?
You might want to try another HDMI cable...the one you have may have a short in it. You can find HDMI cables for really cheap online so it's not a big deal to buy on eor two more as back up. Also, try changing the audio settings with in the BluRay or DVD itself. Sometimes the movies can default to an unsuppotred audio format.

Hi,The settings on the PS3 are sending the video signal throught the HDMI port. Either go through the XMB via system settings, display settings,or if you only have a low def tv then hold the power for 5 seconds (when you turn it on i belive) and it resets it. You may have to adjust the audio settings at the same time, because if you pressed yes when the HDMI was first connected, you agreed to send the audio signal via HDMI as well.
Sony PS3 has an Audio issue with HDMI, the only way to cure this bbuilt in defect is to use a seperate audio cable and use the HDMI for the video, I suggest the audio hook be a optical digital cable, if you don't have one they are avail on ebay very cheap, if you don't have the optical input on the TV then use standard RCA audio A and B cables
You will need the optical cable. My receiver only passes video through the hdmi. So I hooked up the HDMI cable to the tv, and the optical cable to the receiver. Once that is done you have to go to the audio settings for the PS3 and chose audio through the optical.
The HTDDWG700 does not transfer the audio through the HDMI cable that the vision goes through. To solve the problem i got an optical cable and connected the PS3 to the receiver with the optical and put the HDMI cable from the PS3 to the tv.
I would first try changing the inputs if there is an HDMI cable connected the PS3 will detect it and change the output to HDMI.
Make sure when you connect any HDMI cables that the power is off on ALL Units that are using HDMI.
Connect the cables then power up all units.
Change TV and Receiver or Amp to correct HDMI Inputs.
On the PS3 go to Display Settings over to the left of the Crossbar.
Select output settings and select HDMI and everything after select AUTOMATIC!
Then Set your Audio (Also use Auto) and Save by pressing X.
First off make sure ALL Units using HDMI are Powered OFF!
Connect Cable, Then turn on all components.
On the PS3 Crossbar (Menu) go to the 2nd column on the left, Then down to Display Settings.
Choose Output Settings, Choose HDMI, Use AUTOMATIC.
Then do the same with the Audio, HDMI, AUTO
Make sure your TV is on the Right HDMI Input!
