The iPod feature in my iPhone... is not showing a progress bar that allows one to fast forward/rewind, repeat, etc... plus since these options are not visible it is stuck on repeat!
I've... powered on & off, updated iTunes & iPhone software, & synced with my PC. Now what?

Cheapo MP3 play with rewind and fast forward Tablets and e-Readers. ... can anyone recommend a cheap MP3 player that will allow you to fast forward, ... the yepp yp55 t had a wonderful "scroll through" function that took ...
Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your itunes Library.
How to restore your iPod: For Windows:
1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of itunes.
2. Open itunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.
3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in itunes.
4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main itunes windows.
5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt itunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software. The 4 possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.
6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, itunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.
7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage. Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the itunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.
I'm not surprised that it advances on the end. The VCR doesn't know where the end of the taped programme is. You will have to search manually for it. Start at the end of the tape and rewind a few minutes worth of recording then press 'play' and see what you get. If not successful rewind further and try again, etc, etc. Alternatively you could press "play +rewind" which should allow you to watch the record on what is fast (=x2) rewind. It will help you if you know how long the show was and at what point the tape was when recording started.
I tried the above steps, but each time when restarting the DVD player, it said 'reset' and asked for the language to be selected again. Pressing the "Fast Forward Fast Rewind Fast Forward Up Down" sequence caused the player to lock up and require powering off at the wall.
I found on another web site that there are different initial sequences. Once I use the one for Region 2, it worked fine.
I found the instructions below on another web site, but it worked for me...
Make sure there is no disc in the player.
Turn on the player (you can use remote control or front panel, it doesn't matter)
Wait for "No Disc" message to appear on the TV screen.
Press the Repeat button on remote (plain, not A-B).
Press the correct sequence of buttons of remote according to the original region code of your player (it's on the sticker on the back panel of the player). FF = fast forward, FR = fast rewind.
Region 2 players: FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN
Region 3 players: FF, PLAY, FR, UP, LEFT
Region 4 players: FR, PLAY, DOWN, DOWN, RIGHT
Region 5 players: FF, UP, DOWN, STOP, RIGHT
Region 6 players: LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT, PLAY, LEFT
If you pressed the correct sequence, a small white number 0 will appear somewhere on the top right of the screen. The white number 0 of the same font and size as the "No Disc" message, so don't confuse with the red "not allowed" sign that would appear when you press a function that's not available.
Turn the player off and on again, then you can pop in a DVD of any region and watch immediately.
Cheap cassette players have no rewind feature. This allows the mechanism to be simpler and cheaper; they just 'pull' the tape forward constantly, without the pinch wheel for "fast" [sic] and with the pinch wheel for "play".
To work out if this is the problem with your cassette player, look inside with no cassette inserted. If one of the spindles is plain, without the "three-pronged" device to engage with the spool, then you have the cheap device with no rewind. Turn the tape over, and fast-forward.
Turn on the unit with no disc in the unit. The No Disc message should be visible Press the following keys in this sequence Repeat (not the A-B Repeat, just the plain Repeat) Fast rewind button (just below the Disc Menu button) Play button Down button Down button Right Button
The number 9 should now appear towards the left of the screen.
Open then close the disc draw
Turn off the unit and then on again. You should now be able to play DVDs from any region
First thing to try, would be to unplug all your equipment overnight to see if the microprocessors reset. If your still having problems , then you have a firmware problem and you should contact the manufacturer to see if its downloadable and upgradeable. Good Luck
