If you have a universal remote you can try to configure it to the DVD player possibly. If not the safest alternative is to take it to a professional.
Hope this helps some.

Dvr-s120 displays "Tray locked"

Look for a tiny hole near the door, then push a straightened-out paper clip into it. Most DVD drawers have a mechanical release of this sort.
The problem is very likely a warped DVD or some other mechanical problem, maybe a broken part inside. You may have to take the unit apart for an inspection (danger -- unplug it and be prepared for damage!) to see what's going on. I assume you've tried unplugging the unit, then plugging back in to reset its software.

Won't turn on, just says "Hello" and will load no further

This is due to one of the IDE devices inside (Hard Drive or DVD drive) not sending the requires "I am Ready" signal to the main board while the DVR does a power on self test. With the hundreds of units I have come across, 99% of the time it is due to a faulty DVD drive. These "Loader" brand DVD drives were on the cheap and when they give out, the unit does not go past the Hello. You can verify this by replacing the the DVD drive with any other DVD burner or DVD drive or even a CD drive that comes from a computer (IDE connector). The only fix for this is to replace the drive or simply connect an old CD drive inside and not use the DVD properties of the DVR, only the hard disk recording/playback.

Something inside is loose, so it's time to buy a flat panel tv or spend $50 to get it repaired.

Sounds like your power supply. I had the same issue with mine. I researched this model and found out that the power supply was made with, how shall I say this delicately, less than sturdy components. Plus the unit does not have adequete cooling inside. There is a site that repairs the power supplies for a decent price. I was very impressed with the service and site instructions. Check them out.
