Jacuzzi bathtub problem

We were flooded out on Aug 19th....14 " of water came in the house.....we let the tub motor air out for two weeks with a fan blowing directly on it 24/7...we cleaned the tub then were told by the cleaning company to fill with water and add bleach and run to clean out the jets......all was going well until we went to turn it off and it would not turn off....we had to unplug the motor......what could be the problem and can we fix it ourselves.....the switch is on the front inside and may have gotten wet when we were cleaning it....could it just need to dry out ?.......Thank you, G Maynar

Hi gmaynardo,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is can the switch work after it is dryed out?

First, it is important to understand that none of the electrical equipment (i.e. pumps, switches, wires etc.) installed on a whirlpool of any type is designed to survive under water for any length of time.
Just because it is working after drying does not mean you are home free. Corrosion, rust and electrolisis are now likely, not to forget the very real chance of electrical fire.
All is not lost. I would recomend replacing al inexpensive components but the pump may be handled a little differently. Since it is the single most expensive part it would be wise to take it to a local small motor repair man for inspection. With a thumbs up from him I would be very happy.

Jacuzzi majic touch won't turn on

Air Switch Repair
It sounds like you have a bad air switch located in your motor.
The air switch is what the air hose connects to on the back of the motor or on the box on top of the motor. The other end of the air hose is connected to the air button on the lip of the tub.
This is a latching air switch and when you push the air button it latches to send power to the motor. When the air button is pushed again it opens the latch in the air switch and stops power going to the motor shutting it off.

I have a whirlpool jacuzzi tub. I wired to diagram but when tub is full and I turn on jets it trips a breaker. Not GFCI outlet but breaker panel breaker.

Sounds like you may not have a ground on the motor of the pump or a grounded outlet?
check the wiring on the motor on the cord to make sure there are no wires improperly attached inside the motor housing.

you have a bad motor - when a motor overheats there is a sensor inside the motor that will shut if down so as to not damage the windings and such. once your tub has cooled down for 10 mins or so it will turn back on. the fact that you can push the button multiple times just means that you are turning the air switch on the back of the motor on/off until you get to the point where the motor has cooled down and will turn back on. if you do not push the air button after the tub shuts down and you finish your bath then when the pump cools down it will come back on because the air switch in the motor is latching i.e. it is either on or off. Since you left it in the on position the motor will come back on once the motor has cooled down.

Jacuzzi doesn't work...no voltage to outlet, checked braker box, reset it..still not working...any ideas?

Maybe a GFCI outlet that it's pluged into may be tripped . check any other GFCI outlets through your house and make sure none are tripped.

Some tubs have access doors with GFCI outlets near motor at tub may be tripped.

Jacuzzi tub air push swith not hooked up

It does hook up to the pump/motor there should be a friction fitting that the hose fitts over there is a square like box sitting on top of motor this is where i would look for the hook up (should be in the area of the pump/motor electrical cord) . I hope this helps. Thanks for using FIXYA. Have a great week.

Jacuzzi whirlpool, air on/off button on tub

If it is a air button that pushes in and comes back up, there is a good chance that the switch (which is mounted on the pump/motor) is bad. If the switch is a touch button on a key pad, the problem is in the control box for the pump/motor.
