Question about Smeg Dishwashers

1 Answer

Have a 9 month old Smeg Dishwasher D612SDX. Disconnected water feed and re-connected. Problem is that dishwasher panel now flashes 4 & 5 when turned on, as if dishwasher is running. It isn't running! but can't reset by turning on/off, pressing program key or start key. Any ideas?

Looks like it is either a fault with pump/ inlet valve or with the control panel, let me check the code. Is the appliance running or not?

Tell me also if there is an additional error code like E2, E5 etc. that is important

Try first unplugging the machine from power for twenty minutes, this wil reset the controls.
If you do not get any error code check the drain hose , see if there is anything blocking it, this is ofen cause for the problem. Check also that water is coming from the external supply and that supply lines are not obstructed.

Check also that the door is closing, the door latch has a little switch that if it not pressed won't let the machine start, see if it is stuck inside, eventually unlock it with a pencil.
There is also a reset procedure that works on some model , it reset the control board:

    1. Make sure dishwasher is empty of water.

    2. Turn off Dishwasher

    3. Turn back on and within first 3 seconds press black button 4 times -

    4. push door closed and let washer go through cycle

If it still does not work can be a faulty control board.

I want to disconnect the water supply. I am replacing this 12 year old slimline smeg dishwasher and they are coming to take it away to morrow. The connection to the water supply is via a grey plastic box...

Hello Henry,

It's the aqua-stop safety valve and yes, you can just unplug it. Make sure you close the valve on the water-supply first or it's going to get rather messy!

FYI, the aqua-stop is a second-level safety device which shuts off the water supply to the dishwasher to prevent flooding if a leak is detected, when there is no power to the washer and in certain other error conditions.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please let me know.

BElectric

How to remove waste hose from machine?

1 Turn off the circuit breaker that controls the dishwasher.
2 Open the dishwasher door. Locate the two small screws holding the bottom valance trim piece. Remove the screws and the valance, revealing the lower pump assembly and drain-hose connection.
3 Remove the hose clamp. Disconnect the drain line by pulling the hose.
4 Find the other end of the drain line under the sink; it is connected to the drain tail piece or the garbage disposal. Remove the hose clamp and disconnect the drain line. The dishwasher drain hose is now disconnected at both ends.
5 Pull the dishwasher drain hose into the sink base through the hole between the dishwasher and the sink base.
6 Take the dishwasher drain hose outside or to a wash sink. Run hot water through the line to clean and unclog it. When you see water running freely through the hose, then it is clean. If the hose cannot be cleaned, replace it with a new drain hose of the same size and length.
7 Feed the clean dishwasher drain hose back to its original configuration. Reconnect both hose clamps. Reinstall the valance, turn on the circuit breaker and test-run the dishwasher.

Dishwasher has a overfill problem rinse light flashing

An Idea: the Overflow sensor or float is bad, stuck, disconnected and its messages to STOP filling aren't getting thru to the CPU

This is usually located in the right frony of the machine or in the side wall. Float types get gummed up with 1/2 dissolved soap powder (god what we do tho the water systems) see if it moves. Sensor types have a hole that feels or senses water. If clogged, they lie. Clean out with toothpick and blast with a bit of hot water and air. Retry

If fixed, let me know... if not, see the yellow pages for parts dealers ;-)

Cheers

E2 error in smeg dishwasher

e2 is overfill or flooded base.
take the bottom front panel off and see if there is water in it and if so, mop it out. if it reoccurs, then you have a leak.
you will see a float device in the front approx middle and this is what actuates e2. if fault is intermittant, try putting a small weight on this - a washer for example.
if e2 is being caused by overfill and not a flooded base, then the water intake moulding needs replacing

Smeg dishwasher tripping out fuseboard

Has the door got any heavier, as mine started tripping the electrics when a spring broke and short circuited the connections.
f so you will have to get the spring out, from the underneath is best and replace it if you want the door to work correctly again. On mine the second one went a month later.

Smeg dishwasher

You don't say what you're missing. Smeg maintains websites with contact info to get what you need. www.smeguk.com is in the UK.

What you should generally have is all sliding racks and a utensil holder. Included should be a drain hose and a manual. If a door panel is interchangeable, that is usually bought separately. Water inlet fittings are not included and neither is an exhaust drain connection.
