Why does my washer say door open when it's closed

Hello Friend, this is Z. Thank you for allowing me to assist you!

I understand that your door indicates it is open and your washer will not operate. Try resetting your washer by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. It is best to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn on your washer. Select a normal cycle and verify if your washer will start. If your washer will not operate then it possibly have a faulty door lock assembly or a communication problem with the control board. At this point, I recommend contacting a professional to move forward accurately. Best regards!

Why do i get F1 notice and machine stops working

Whirlpool uses the F1 code for some of their front load washers when there is a problem with the electronic control board (the brain of the washer). You can try unplugging the washer for 30+ minutes.

However, it's likely that you need a new control board. (If the washer is still under warranty, contact Whirlpool.) Otherwise find the model number of the washer (usually inside the door). Then use the model number to find a replacement. The last time I checked the part is ~$175.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number of the washer for specific information.

Can you change the door direction on a Maytag

Unfortunately, you can only change front loading dryer door directions on some models. Washing machines do not allow this. If the units are stacked i may be easier to switch loads, otherwise the dryer door may be able to have the door swing direction changed but without the Dryer model # I couldn't say for sure.

Problems with the washer

The manual for this model says the washer has tried unsuccessfully to unlock the washer. It suggests you ensure the door is firmly closed and to try again, if this fails then to unplug your unit for 2 minutes to allow the circuit board to reset.

So far as the clothes being wet, you may have a situation where the load became unbalanced and the drum struck the interior floor of the washer where a switch is located. This swich is designed to stop an unbalanced spin cycle from damaging the machine. To reset this, remove the four screws inside the doors opening. This will remove the door and allow you to pull off the face of the washer. On the base of the drum where you will find a switch. Depress (push upwards) on the button and ensure it is in the outer most position to reset the switch.
