You need to reset the IE. Assuming that you are using the IE 7.0 i have given the steps below.

Start>control Panel>Internet Options>Advanced Tab>Reset

Than click close and OK.
Restart the Computer and try again. It should work fine now.

Let me know if you are not using the IE 7.0

My computer is very slow, sometimes freezes or won't load and will not shut down

If your laptop computer won't shut itself down even after you select the "Shut Down" option from your "Start" menu, this means that too many programs are still open on your computer. Before Windows can shut down, it needs to manually close all open software, and having too many programs open can severely delay this process or cause Windows to lock up. Closing these programs will help your machine shut down as normal.
b> Right-click on your task bar. Click "Show Windows Stacked." This will maximize all of the program windows for all open programs on your desktop. The windows will be stacked one on top of the other on-screen. Click the "X" box in the corner of the first window to close that particular program. This will reveal the next program window in the stack. Continue to close these programs until you see your desktop wallpaper again. This, coupled with the fact that your task bar should now be cleared of all program icons, indicates that you have successfully closed all program windows. Your laptop will now shut down normally.

Dell inspiron e1505 detected high memory usage by IE. what do i need to do to resolve this

Open up a broswer in Internet explorer, click on tools then go to manage add on's. Open up the window so that you can see all columns. Look for add on's that are running with permission and disable those which are causing a long load time in internet explorer. Then check for add on's that are running without permission and do the same thing.

Then go back to tools and click on internet options at the bottom. Then click on browser history settings and make sure your pc is not set to higher than 50. Change if necessary and then choose save and exit.

then try using disk cleanup and follow it with disk defrag. Make sure to check all folders in clean up and use the arrows to scroll to the last one at the bottom. you can find disk cleanup by clicking on start and then go to accessories and system tools. It should be under the system tools heading. Or try clicking on start and then type in disk cleanup in the search box.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down

What windows are you using? This is often caused by a failing service or corrupt program, or damaged system file.
A simple way to fix/replace damaged file. Start button > run > type sfc /scannow
This requires a i386 folder on your computer or a recovery disk or windows installaiton disk.
If this doesn't repair the problem, turn off all programs in startup (start button > run > type msconfig > click on startup tab > disable everything > restart.
If this doesn't fix the problem Determine what program start the problem.
If you need more time click start button > run > type shutdown -a > this will abort the shutdown.

Also run cleanup - open my computer, right click on the c drive, select properties, click disk cleanup
