Hi,.... I'm having the same problem as sharon_mi334. My Dell AIO 962 does not copy, fax or scan...but prints. When attempted(copy, fax or scan), the output is a scanned image or a print out that's completely black. When I looked at the "scanner light unit/ copier camera" or what-ever it's called ... the gizmo that moves across under the glass plate,... I noticed there was NO light coming out of it as it should on any other copier, etc. Sooo,... is that the problem, ie: unable to copy the image? If so, can I fix that by replacing a bulb or a particular unit? Looking for some advice and thank you for your help and time.
Lift the lid and to the left of the main glass is a smaller glass; that is what scans during the feeding process. Make sure that it is completely clean; even a speck of dust can cause a line to appear. I took a lens wipe and cleaned mine and my line was gone.
The scanner bulbs ahve gone bad.U need to get it them replaced.Before that try resetting the printer using the # and the number 6 buttons,holding them down and then inserting the power cord at the back of the printer. see if it works.
you need to go to your printer settings and make sure it is set as the default printer for everything. Make sure it is also set as your default scanner. you may also try lightening the image with the lighter/darker setting on the machine. if this continues, you may want to see if a section of the light is burnt out. this wiill cause darkness on scan & copies but not printing from the c drive. Make sure the machine is lighting up completely when is scans or copies. If part of the lighting is burnt out it will be a fix or replace situation.
