Could you have an alarm set somewhere? If nothing else, I'd back up and do a hard reset. Might be some programs that are lost - don't know for sure. Anything in the units memory will be lost.

Microsoft Excel files can contain thousands of cells filled with data.
When you combine this information with graphics, such as charts and graphs, as well as ever-expanding links to other worksheets, you can end up with an enormous file that takes up precious system space and slows Excel down.
While there are many software programs available that promise to shrink Excel files, there are many ways to reduce the bulk without downloading a new application.

1. Click on any cell in the Excel file you want to reduce.
Open the "Go To" dialog box in Excel 2007 by clicking the "Find" drop-down arrow on the Home tab of the ribbon and selecting "Go To."
In Excel 2003 or earlier, go to the "Edit" menu and select "Go To."
You can also use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl+G" in any version of Excel.
2. Click the "Special" button on the "Go To" dialog box.
Select "Blanks" and click "OK." Click the "Clear" drop-down in the "Editing" group in Excel 2007 and select "Clear All."
In Excel 2003 or earlier, go to the "Edit" menu, point to "Clear" and select "All." This will clear any blank cells to help reduce the file size.

3. Go to the very last cell containing data in the Excel file.
Select the entire row beneath this cell by clicking the number to the left of it.
Hold "Ctrl+Shift" and then press the down arrow key to select all of the cells beneath this point.

4. Click the "Clear" drop-down in the "Editing" group in Excel 2007 and select "Clear All."
In Excel 2003 or earlier, go to the "Edit" menu, point to "Clear" and select "All."
Select the column to the right of the last cell. Hold "Ctrl+Shift" and then press the right arrow key. Again, select "Clear All."
5. Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for any other Excel files that are linked to the workbook you are trying to reduce.
Save the files and then check the new file size by clicking the "Office Button" in Excel 2007.
Point to "Prepare" and then click on "Properties." In Excel 2003 or earlier, go to the "File" menu and select "Properties."
The file size will be listed on the "General" tab.

Corrupt excel 2010 file

1 - Using "Open and repair"

Microsoft Excel has a built-in repair tool for corrupted files. To access it, go to File and Open. A menu will pop up in which you'll have to select the file you want to fix and then choose "Open and repair" from the dropdown menu. This will open a dialogue box in which you can pick between the repair option (which will recover as much information as possible) and the extract option (that will copy values and formulas). The two alternatives combined should work fine to save your work.

2 - Saving the file to a different format

If you can open the file but you can't modify it or save the changes, you should use this method. You'll have to save the file to a different format (such as SYLK or HTML) via the "Save as" menu. Once you've done this, you'll have to open the recently saved file and then save it once again (but this time, you'll have to choose the Excel Workbook as the format). By doing this, you'll be creating a fresh new file with all the data from the corrupted file.

3 - Opening the file in Microsoft Word

This option is only available for the people that have the Microsoft Excel converter installed on their PC (it can be downloaded from the Microsoft website). You simply have to open the corrupted Excel file with Word. However, you should know that this method only works for retrieving data (all the structures from the sheet will be gone, such as formulas and macros).

4 - Altering the Calculation option

If your file isn't opening at all you can try to adjust the calculation option. Simply open Excel in a blank workbook, go to the "Tools" menu and look for "Options". There you'll find the "Calculation" tab in which you'll have to look for the "Calculation" section and set it to "Manual". Click OK and then try to open the corrupted file once again.

5 - Linking the corrupted file

In this method, you'll have to link one cell of a blank worksheet to the corrupted workbook. Be sure to create the new worksheet in the same location as the corrupted file. Once you've done this go to the blank worksheet and enter the following in the A1 cell: <Filename>!A1. This will copy the data from the A1 cell of the corrupted file to the new sheet. In case it works, simply click "Edit" on the cell and select an area like the one covers the cell that contain data in the damaged file, and then click Paste. Then (and with the cells still selected) click Copy on the Edit menu.

Master reset code

  • Remove any memory cards that are in the phone (MicroSD, SD or MiniSD), and remove the SIM card, if your phone uses one. Make sure the phone is turned on before continuing (if you had to remove the battery to remove the memory card or SIM, turn the phone on).

  • Select "Contacts" from the main screen of your cell phone to access your contacts list. Go through the entire list, selecting each name and deleting the entry. Consult your cell phone manual to find out where the "Delete Entry" option is located in your Contacts menu (if you do not have a manual use the link in "Resources" to download a copy of one for your phone). Typically, when you choose an entry, the option to "Edit" will appear on the screen. Select that and one of the sub-options will be "Delete Entry." Do this for all of the entries in your Contact list.

  • Open your text messaging (SMS) application on your phone. Most phones have an icon you can choose from the main screen to go to the application (where you can compose, send, or read SMS messages). Press your "Menu" key again (or the key under the "Options" choice on the screen), and select "Delete All." Click on the choice to delete both read and unread messages. When you are done, return to the main menu.

  • Delete all of your media files. Go to your music, video, photo and MMS directories, and either use a "Delete All" option from the menu, or individually highlight each file name, select "Edit" and then "Delete" and remove each one.

  • Open your calendar and clear all of the entries. Make, sure when you choose this option from the calendar edit menu, that you check off the option to remove the calendar history as well, so past events are erased.

  • Open your email settings (where you entered your email address originally to receive notifications on your phone of new emails), and delete the email address you registered.

  • Open your notepad program and delete any notes you may have stored in the memory. Do this for any Voice Notes, if your phone offered this function as well.

How do I unlock an excel spreadsheet which has password protection (lost). I am using Mac Excel not Windows

    A) Open document > Select edit menu > choose select all > then choose copy from edit menu.
Open new document > edit menu> paste.
Select tools menu> choose options> window opens with options. Select form different tabs the edit tab> make sure that al desired boxes are selected.
Select save tab>choose and mark box>ask about properties
accept or Apply options and close.
Save new document different name. When saving it should ask if you want to save properties> choose not save. Maybe it asks if you want to modify properties> choose yes> select box archive amongst read only, hidden or archive.
    If this does not work.
B)There are many 3rd party utilities which claim to reset forgotten word password:
The program that I recommend is the Excel Password Recovery 5.0 It recovers/removes the "Password to Open" and "Password to Edit" for you to view and edit the document freely.

A 2 MB xlsx file is taking long time to open and save - consuming 50% of CPU - making Excel screen go white - using 55 MB RAM - auto calculation off - any ideas to resolve this

Solution 1.) If you have installed PDF maker, which can get installed when you install scanner software, the Excel add-on can potentially cause Excel to open slowly. This is more common in Office 2007.

    * Close Excel and any other window you have open
    * Open "My Computer" and browse to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART
    *

    * When you open Excel, check to see if the time it takes to open the xls/xlsx is shortened.

Solution 2.) This can be fixed by reinstalling Office but there is a faster way to fix this .

    * Go to your Control Panel, (click on Start then Click on Control Panel)
    * Click on Folder Options, then File Types,
    * scroll down to and select (DOC for Word files) or XLS (for Excel files),
    * click Advanced and select Open entry,
    * click the edit Button.
    * deselect "Use DDE"
    * append "%1" (include the quote marks) to the end of the application command line,
    * Remove /dde if it is at the end of the command line
    * Then click on OK three times.

If the issue was being caused by DDE, then when you now open a Word doc file or Excel els; they will now open faster, without a long pause.

I cannot get in to messenger. Error message8100395. This has been going on for 4 days now. I contacted MSN and they gave me a list of suggestions, using tools. I also changed my password at least 6 times...

This is a "hosts" file problem, I was having the same problem.
To cure this I had to go into the Windows operating system files and manually change a system file, this is definately not reccommended if you don't know what you are doing.
This has been happening to me for several days before I edited the hosts file and now all is ok, I am sure it is a MSN glitch and they will sort it out. BUT unless you can get messenger to open messenger is not going to update and sort the problem out.
If you feel brave enough to attempt the edit, leave a reply.
