Question about Sharp Fax Machines

Sharp Model FO-4700 Facsimile, when powering up, message appears ' Please Wait A Moment ' and that message stays on constantly, no matter what key is pressed. No key tone, and same message comes on even after plugging and unplugging power to machine ??

Turning the power on and off does not correct the problem. There is no change no matter what button is pressed. There is no phone line plugged into this FO-5700. It is only used as a copy machine. The 'Please Wait a Moment ' will stay on for hours. Did remove and replace toner and drum cartridge, did remove and replace the paper feeder tray. This machine had worked properly, with never an error message, previous to this. Thanks

I am unsure if this will help, but I have the owners manual at this web address and if you look in troubleshooting your problem may be there.

Since it will not come out of the "Please Wait" mode, that's telling me that it is failing to initialize.
In other words the controller board refuses to progress through normal stat up procedure. Now it could be that a sequencer board has failed, or the controller board has failed. In either case, my first recommendation would have been to power off, and power on. Since you have done that (I'm assuming repeatedly) it is time for a little more drastic matters.

Depending on the age of the machine, this would come under a warranty repair. If it is past warranty, well...next option.

If you have a service contract on it, contact the people that service it.

If you don't, I would contact a local company that does service Sharps, and ask them what they charge for a service call.

Last choice (and this one is always a little rought to take) how old is the machine, and how much did you pay for it, vs. replacing the machine.

If a beep sound is not made when you press the keys, turn off the power switch and then turn it on again after 5 minutes.

Hope that helps.........

If you unplug the fax for about 2-4 hours and still the same result, better contact Sharp or take this machine to a service center to diagnose and fix this...

There may be a button on your console that says 'memory' or
"memory status". pressing this key should erase any documents in the memory.

if none of this works turn it off and leave it off overnight, if in the morning when you turn it back on the memory should have been cleared....dont turn it off at the machine turn it off at the wall socket so the machine thinks there is a power failure...this should make the machine print out a status report when you turn it back on.

    good luck

MEMORY FULL ON SHARP UX-460

In addition to clearing memory this *will reset unit to factory defaults.
*****all of your programmed settings will be erased.

First power down the fax by unplugging, then power on.

After the power is turned on and "WAIT A MOMENT" is displayed, press & hold the STOP key.....until a normal display message shows.

*The above step allows the memory to be cleared! If this step is skipped clearing memory to factory defaults, (below) may not always work.

Press the "function" key followed by ALL of the following

9 * 8 # 7

wait until "diag mode" is showing.

Then press start button, followed by either * or #
until "memory clear" message is displayed.

then press start. If stressful "memory cleared" is shown.
proceed to re-program your fax machine settings.

Sharp fax model fo 2950m

There are two ways to fix your problem. First open your cover, then press the small white rounded reset button in the lower frame. The second method - unplug your fax, then hold down the stop and start key while pluging in the fax. When you see memory clear on the screen let go of the stop and start key. I believe the screen will say 1 for yes 2 for no for memory clear, press 1. The second method will ERASE every thing in memory that includes program #'s and transaction report setting.

Sharp UX-117 display Wait a moment on power on and then no signal

I have not worked on a sharp ux-117 before, however most sharp fax machines are all alike when it comes to resetting this code. Turn the fax on while holding down the stop and start key don't let go until you see 1 =yes, 2=no for memory clear. press 1=yes. Some of the sharp fax machines have a small white rounded reset button. No guarantee but you have nothing to lose.
