There are no updated drivers available on Dell's website. The router is working fine as I have two other laptops that receive excellent signal anywhere in the house.

your wireless router could be failing. Take your laptop around and see if your hot spots have changed. If they have you most likely need to replace your wireless router. This is common when the router is failing.

One common thing that causes this is that the wireless card gets a little dirt or corrosion in the slot or on the antennae leads. Try taking out the card and cleaning the connections for it. You might also check for any updated drivers. If the problem persists, then replacement may be your only option.

Limited connectivity
If you get a 'Limited connectivity" on you wireless connection on your laptop, it means that the wireless card on your laptop probably did not get an IP address from the wireless router.
To fix this problem, right click on the wireless icon on the Task bar and then click Repair.
This will force the wireless router to issue a IP address to the wireless card on the laptop.

Verify that you have the correct type of authentication in wireless- if your router is set to WPA2, then you would have to go under the connection properties > security tab to change it to match that setup. If that does not work, then the issue may be that the wireless card is defective and starting to fail.

Can't connect using wirless internet with dell inspiron 2200

There is no switch on an Inspiron 2200. I would go to Dell's website and download the drivers for your model # and then uninstall the existing adapter. then try installing the new driver and let me know what happens.

Wireless connection

by default, dell systems' switch for wireless can be done by pressing Fn and tap F2. The wifi light should lit up. Your modem is integrated to the motherboard. If you were able to lit up the wifi light, this should be able to detect wireless signals for you to connect to.

Can't get connected

This is generally a driver glitch. Uninstall the wireless drivers from the device manager and reboot. The machine will find the wireless and reinstall the drivers automatically. This should clear up the connection problem. If not, let me know.

Wireless Connection connecting but not able to browse the internet?

I would try reinstalling the wireless driver. To do this, goto start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager and find the driver listed under network controllers. Delete it and restart your computer, and the driver will reinstall itself (it will find new hardware). That may take care of your problem.
