You can notice it when the ink indicator is flashing..or by manually looking at the printout..

My HP deskjet 880C is only printing in black and pink (no blue, no green, not red)

If your printer has a toolbox feature, try cleaning the printer head. I have found out with HP printers that I have owned to stay away from remanufactured ink cartridges or generic brands. I use genuine ink cartridges and buy mine from Ebay for very good prices. Just a thought.

Just purchased an iMac computer for my HP DeskJet 880C

You can log on to the hp site and get the current driver/printer software for your printer. Get the mac os version and install via usb. Download and install then restart your imac... then attempt a print...
Should work fine with an iMac.

Check that you have taken the neccessary tabs of to allow the ink into the printer.
If that is correct you should try cleaning the print heads.

We have had simillar problems with HP Printers.
Occasionally i used to type TEST in very large letters and tell it to print in photo quality until it successfully pulled the ink through

Maybe there's some document stuck in your printqueue. Next to the systems clock (on the bottom right of your screen) there should be a small printer icon.

Doubleclick it, the printer's queue should appear. If not right click it and choose printequeue.

In the printqueue screen go to File > Cancel all (or an options similar. If the queue is empty. Try printing again. If it won't empty, restart your machine, and try emptying it again (or chech whether it's now empty)

If this doesn't work, download the driver installer from HP's site.
Use the following link:
[HP Deskjet 880c Driver page]

First select your OS though.

Let me know if this helped.

I am working on the same problem. While you will not like the
answer here it is for the canon mf6530. What is causing it
is the shutter over the laser is failing to open. There for
it blocks all exposer. A temperary fix is to carefully lift the
shutter and tape it open using black electrical tape. Then
try a few prints you should have an image if this is your
issue as it is mine. I do not recommending running it in
this condition very long. When I find the final answer I
will attempt to post it.
