Drive limits on my chamberlain wont register

I was closing my garage and stopped it halfway as i only wanted it to stay half open to allow ventillation. It made a horrible noise. now the drive limits got erased. I've tried to adjust the limits with the screws but it is not registering.

Have NO IDEA what you are saying. Do you mean you adjust limits and chain moves too far? Or is chain not moving. Bad gears. Toss unit unless you are handy and can rebuild gears.

Garage door wont go completely up

on the machine there will be a couple mini dials to be turned, these are the ones used during installation to get the correct distance for closing and opening, they should be labled, but not all are. one is for open adjustment, and other is for close adjustment. carefull, they can be verry touchy, meaning the slightest turn can make it move alot. a general way to adjust them is a half turn is equivlent to about 2" door movement.
good luck

Craftsman 1/3 hp garage door opener I bought a new one - my father installed it and the door will open half way - that is it.. then when you go to close it - it closes and then opens half way...

I hate to say this but it sounds like your father did not follow the instructions when he installed the opener. Try following these instructions.

Loosen the chain enough so that you can remove it from the sprocket above the motor unit. With the door closed run the motor until the sprocket turns clockwise and stops. With everything attached replace and tighten the chain. Some adjusting of the up and down limits will probably be required.

The garage door opens halfway and then stops; it will close completely however

COULD BE A BROKEN SPRING
COULD BE A SENSITIVITY ADJUSTMENT.

HOW DOES THE DOOR WORK MANUALLY - IF YOU CAN'T LIFT IT NEITHER CAN THE OPENER.

ALSO COULD BE BAD DRIVE GEARS - BUT MOST OFTEN A SPRING 2ND WOULD BE OPERATOR ADJUSTMENT

Chamberlain hd900d garage door opener

You will have to open the unit and look inside it. Unplug it first. It should have 6-8 screws to take off. You will see 3 white plastic adjustment screws. There is a carriage they sit in. Make sure they are in this carriage. If you would like stay back a bit and plug it in and watch it run to see how it works. It is a direct contact system, so when the middle screw touches the copper limit of the limit screw it stops. Thanks BB

Installed garage door opener and the door opens then closes on its on

The down limit switch could be set to low. Try moving the screw clockwise to raise the stop point.

How do I reset my garage door opener. It is a Coromaster 2000 motor. The closing and opening setting are out and the motor only stops due to resistance.

The Coromaster 2000 does not operate off limit switches. It has a quarter-revolution optical pulse counter. To re-program the open and close limits do the following: Ensure that the door is open at least a couple of feet. Press the reset button once or twice Short out pushbutton and common and hold until close limit and then release. Door should stop at your new close limit. Wait 5 seconds. Short out pushbutton and common and door will open. Hold the short until open limit and then release. Limits should now be set.

Garage door closes and then automatically opens half way

ADJUST THE DOWN LIMIT IT THINKS THERE IS AN OBSTRUCTION AND IS REVERSING LIKE IT SHOULD.

TURN THE LIMIT ABOUT 1/4 TURN AT A TIME.

HOPE THIS HELPS

My garage door opener doesnt close all the way.

The motor is probably either stalling because the door is too stiff, or you have a beam break detector that is being triggered when the door is halfway down.

Won't Close

Remove power from the opener. Then, pull the red release rope and manually lift open the door. It should move with little effort. Next, pull the door halfway down and let go. The door should stay where you left it. If it fails either test, the door lift springs need replacement or adjustment. If it works ok, follow the proceedure in the owners manual for adjusting the up and down limit sensors, and the emergency reverse adjustment.
