GE Stove tope range not working

We have a GE Stovetop oven range model number JSP47. We went to use the stove top this morning and it worked fine. We went back to use the oven and it did not work. I went to try the stove top again and it did not work. I noticed the clock was out so I assumed we tripped a breaker. Checked breaker and it was fine. I turned it off for a few minutes, then turned it back on. I went back to the stove and nothing. When I turned the dial for the stove top the lights on the front panel came back on and I could reset the clock and the buttons on the panel would function, but the burner would not get hot. As soon as I turn the dial to off, the stove goes dead again.

All functions work on the control panel when you turn one of the dials to the on position but no heat to the stove top or range. When you turn the dail back off, all functions go dead.

    Heating
elements eventually burn out. Sometimes, when an element burns out, you
can see that the coil burns in two, or blisters and bubbles.

    When
your heating element burns out, you have to replace it because they are
not repairable. If, when the heating element burns out, the infinite
switch that controls it also fails, you have to replace it too. Also
see the "A burner works only intermittently" section, next.

If the phenomenon is intermittent, and you get it going and coming as you restart the oven, then it is likely a bad wiring or a bad connection.
Ensure first that the circuit breaker is ok and well in place, then proceed testing wirings.
Check connectors to buners, hobs, and controls panel.
If all wirings and connections are OK, the what reamins is a faulty control panel or a fault on some of the knob controls.

Here you get parts for your appliance, this is the control panel. If you notice that the control timer is doing funny things, like display going off etc, it is likely the board behind panel faulty.
If only oven is not working and panel is fine it can be a faulty oven sensor, test the oven sensors (thermistor, gas and flame sensor etc.). Once you locate the fault replace defective part or rebuild wirings.

Check the oven switch with a sester, see if you find shorts or a bad connection on the wires from OVEN CONTROL (ERC3B) to the oven, check fan and ELEMENT BAKE
    Also check the SENSOR ASM

More likely the fault is within the OVEN CONTROL ,
Probably you will need to replace it.

Here is explained how to remove control panel.

Click on the links above to get diagrams and buy parts.
Contact them at 1-888-895-1535 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM Eastern time if you are not sure of a part number.

Calling the part seller by phone you can also order the repair manual.

You will probably have to replace the main control board- the cooktop operates independently of the ovens, so your symptom is not uncommon... GE Range Stove Oven Oven Control Board WB27T10416

Stovetop & Oven not heating but clock, lights, & vent fan are working

It sounds like you are getting only one side of the power to your stove. the lights will work but no heat. your power breaker has two sides for an electric stove. It may be one side isn't reset properly. make sure that you snap the breaker completely off and then completely back on. if that doesn't work perhaps an electrician is in order or one side of your power cord has burned off at the terminal block. I have had this happen.

How do I plug back in the GE stove top burners after unplugging them?

The two leads from the burner fit into a socket in the stove top. It's a bit tricky to get it in just right. If the three metal "legs" on the burner fit snugly into the three slots on the stovetop you did it right.

GE Profile Stove, stove top works but the oven will not heat up.

You will most likely have to replace the oven igniter. If you have the model number you posted under, I believe the igniter for the broiler is the same as the oven broiler, and could be swapped out to get the oven working again. (of course, now the broiler won't work until that igniter is replaced) If you'd like the part number or any further advise, comment back with the full model number off the sticker just behind the lower drawer panel on the frame of the range. Tonight, you may have to finish the chicken on the stove top.

you have more than likey damaged the stove top with brillo, and once they are damaged there is really no simple cure other than to replace. in the future use a non abrasive cleaner, and NEVER use oven cleaner on a glass top, it will wreck it as well
