SOURCE: Have greeting card magic from 1998. Is it to old

When windows 1998 was being made, they did not know how win7 would be like 11 years after. So the program was designed for win98. I am 99.9% sure it will not work. You can create a restore point & try it on win7. If it doesn't work & creates prob for win7, restore the computer prior to installing the software.

My Art Explosion Greeting Card Deluxe Factory 2 software will not work on my Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop. I am using Windows Vista. Please can you advise?

Unfortunately the Windows OS has changed significantly since that software was released. Nova Developement now has the Greeting Card Factory Deluxe version 8 for XP/Vista/7.

If you have the 64-bit Vista, you may not be able to get the old software to work and need the upgrade or a virtual computer with an older Windows OS (see below). To check your OS version, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security > System .

You can try running the program in the compatibility mode - this will work best with software for XP not Win95-NT. Right click on the installer and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and choose Run this program as compatible with (an older version of Windows). Click on the check box and use the drop-down menu to select the older OS. Save the change by clicking apply then close the window. Right click again on the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

If the program installs, do the same compatibility steps for the program's exe file itself. (You don't need to run as administrator though.)

Alternatively, you can run a dual boot or virtual computer with an older Windows OS. (Programs like Virtual PC, Parallels and VMWare let you run a virtual computer inside the Vista system with a computer that can handle virtualization.) Unfortunately, you usually need a licensed version of Windows to do this. (Win7 Pro and Ultimate let you do this free with Virtual PC and XP mode.) Then install the software normally in the virtual computer or when booted into the older version of Windows. File transfer can be tricky with the virtual computer - you need to save files to external media (flash drive or optical disc). Printers can't be installed on both the real and virtual computer at the same time.

I hope this helps.

I have just bought a new acer computer with windows 7 but why will my greeting card deluxe version 6 will not install

Try under compatability mode, your support site says Microsoft Windows 98, NT, 2000, Me, XP, Vista (classic mode)
So it may work with windows 7, if you right click on the exe file and change the properties to compatability mode, and run as administrator

When I placed the order for Greeting Card Factory over the Internet I was not asked what kind of computer that I had. The Greeting Card Factory that I got in the mail today is not for a Vista Computer. Now...

The only greeting card product on their website is Greeting Card Factory® Deluxe 7.0 and it's Vista certified meaning it should work with Vista. If you have a non Vista certified product you have a 90 day satisfaction guarantee in which to contact them and return it.

Is there a program out there like Greetings 99 for vista?

Art Explosion Greeting Card Factory Deluxe 7.0 - This version of Greeting Card Factory from Nova Development adds another 10,000 graphics (90,000+) and almost double the number of project templates from earlier versions (24,000+). Create all kinds of projects from greeting cards and calendars to stationery and certificates. Some of the kinds of cards include Thank You notes, Pop-Up Cards, Note Cards, and Photo CD Greeting Cards. Helpful tools: Photo Editor, Card Browser, and Drag and Drop Text Effects. It's also Windows Vista certified. This is a very good program and works with Vista. Hope this helps you.

Greetings myazdi,

It is unfortunate that some cameras as well as other older programs and Vista do not get along. One solution I have heard of is to utilize a memory card reader such as any of these:

I hope this helps.

Xerox Docucolor 1250 with vista

Greetings...

Well, not great news... below is direct from the Xerox website... however I would suggest you try using the XP drivers... Vista might argue about it, but it is worth trying...

If all else fails there is one last solution, but your current computer would need lots of memory... it is Microsoft Virtual PC... it's free and you could run XP from your Vista and be able to use all of the Xerox templates... some work on your part, but you could get your greeting cards done...

Here is a link to Virtual PC...

Here is a link to Microsoft with an explanation regarding Vista and printer drivers...

Here is a link to the XP drivers...

DocuColor 1250/1255/1256GA Copier/Printer Drivers and Downloads
Drivers: Windows Vista

Note: The G610 is no longer supported. If you have a Splash G610, place a service call to have your Splash Server Upgraded to a Splash G620

Windows Vista Note: This product is not supported in the Microsoft Windows Vista Operating System. Please contact a Xerox Sales Representative for the latest products with Vista support.

using another serial is illegal because its not the one corresponding to your license..so your best chance is contacting them and telling them if they can somehow retrieve your serial.. but that only would work if you have registered your software..
