Make: Frigidaire front load washing machine. Model: FWTR647GHS0. (The last digit may be the letter O and not the number 0.) S/N XCO3813257.

I went to the website you've suggested. It appears that the bearing is not available separately, but is instead part of the rear outer tub assembly (shell) for $192.91 plus freight. I don't know whether it makes sense to spend that much money on a ten year old machine.
Separately, the drain pump is also making clicking noises during the drain cycle. Is this a common issue and will replacement of the drain pump solve the problem?

  • Jerry Goggins Sep 04, 2008

I checked out the drain pump and there was a piece of undetermined plastic in it. The more amazing thing was that I found at least $5 worth of coins in the hose attached to the drain pump. I emptied the change, took the pump apart and removed the plastic, and put it back together. I think it'll be fine.

I reassembled the belt and pulley, although I attempted to lubricate the bearing with some light oil. If the bearing dies I'll buy a replacement washer, but I expect to get several more years before that happens.

well, there could be something first stuck somewhere in the drain pump causing it to make that noise, so check it out first especially if it is still draining and not leaking.

Whether it is better to buy new or fix old, let me point out that a new Front Load Machine can be bought for under $600 which I believe are better than top load. If cost isn't an issue, then I would go with a new one because other parts may start to go once one goes from so much use over the years. If money is an issue, and you can do the work yourself, then I would replace the tub but be ready for more repairs down the road. let me know if you have anything else that you are questioning

During spin cycle drum makes loud noise. Sounds like bearings are going out. Can they be lubricated? Or replaced

Depends on what sort of machine it is. (Front or top load)Bearings can be replaced but this will always entail replacement of all the tub seals and in the case of front loaders, almost always , it will need a new drum shaft. The costs to fix can be expensive. To confirm bearing failure, you can see if the tub moves and clunks on the main shaft and the noise will increase as the tub speed increases. Drum bearings usually fail when the tub seal fails or is worn out, allowing water to get into the bearing and wash all the grease out. Brown , black greasy stains under your machine and on the floor is usually a telltale sign as well.

Can the drum bearing be renewed

Hello, W/D here.

Of course it can! If someone can put it together, you can get it apart.

Here's a link to another site where this problem has already been tackled.
http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=22035
One thing I liked about this site is that there was an ad for bearings on the page, and might help you also. Bearings are also available at a source called Motion Industries and WW Grangier. Hotpoint vendors may have a supply on hand as well. All you'll need is the number stamped onto the bearing race to get a suitable replacement. Sales shops that also provide service may tell you that the bearings and tub assemblies have to be sold as a unit, as the bearings may be rubber coated, but this isn't true. You can purchase any bearing required from the sources listed, or by performing a google search with the bearing number and selecting a source near you. A word to the wise; replace both bearings!
Best regards, --W/D--

The bearing has gone out in my front load washer. How do you remove the old bearing?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjULf1lLW5U&feature=channel Its easier to post a link than to try to go into detail. If the link does not post than go to youtube and do a search for washing machine bearing replacement. You can match up the bearings once you get it apart. I know Frigidare wants to sell the complete drum and does not list the bearings and seal.
Good luck
Good luck.

My HE4 front loading Kenmore washing machine leaks when I run a full load (no problems with a very small load)

If your FRONT LOADER is leaking, the following link can give you guidance on how to inspect the washer to determine where the source of the leak may be coming from:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

Most commonly, the source of the leak comes from the door bellow (gray rubber seal). They do wear out with age and can develop small rips and tears. A routine inspection of the perimeter of the door seal can determine if you have any holes. If the seal is damaged, it must be replaced. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

NOTE: The leak may only appear with heavier loads, because more water is in the drum and it is being displaced by the laundry load.

Noisy spin on hotpoint aquarius WF530 6kg washing machine. Suspect bearing how do I replace them.

If you spin the drum by hand, and it is niosy and rumbling then the main drum bearings have failed.
If under 5 years old, then you should be able to get it repaired under Hotpoint 5 year guarantee, You just pay for labour and call out, cheapest option, it is not really a D.I.Y job, as it is quite involved, and entails a lot of work.
Please rate my advice.
Thanks.
