Question about Lands Phones

1 Answer

Hi, I switched to Vonage for phone service thru my hi-speed internet which is "over-air" thru csinet. We live in a rural area so this is our only hi speed internet option. Now my tivo fails to download programming on ONE of my two tivo receivers. Do you have any suggestions?

I have lots of suggestions, but you won't like them.

Somewhere in the fine print, it should have told you that modems, faxes, and alarm systems do not like VoIP.
Your phone company probably has lifeline service for minimal money......Do you get where this is going?

I know you'll ask how come one works and one doesn't, so before we go down that road, check with TiVo and see if you can change modem speeds. Or better yet, call them and tell them your receiver doesn't behave on Vonage lines.

They may have a trick 300 baud setting solution.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I have comcast cisco cable that is working fine but when I hook up vonage I get no internet why?

More than likely you need to enable split tunneling on vpn settings in router. If Vonage uses a vpn tunnel like other VOIP services do, then it is probably encrypting all traffic on your Internet/WAN interface. With split tunneling enabled it will only encrypt traffic to and from Vonage. I'm making a few assumptions here, but it should be worth a check.

How to use VOIP Phone number in Philippines

US VOIP phone number can be used in the Philippines. For example, If you're Vonage subscriber (I used to), you can hook your phone adapter (basically a router pre-configured to work with Vonage) to your DSL/Cable modem.

You can make/receive phone calls to/from the US, depending on your subscription type. Usually, there are unlimited call plans. All you need is a high speed internet connection.

BT internet speed....

BT from my experience have poor speeds
my girlfreind lives in a rural area and they cant be bothered upgrading the phone lines and telephone exchanges in her area

the fact they used to make a million pound a second and still make massive profits just shows how pathetic they are

you are best switching to fiber optic with virgin media
fiber optic has none of the problems you get using ADSL2 on bt lines
Plus most companies rent BT lines so switching to another BT based provider will probably not result in increase in speeds

with BT technology the further you are from the telephone exchange, the slower you are too

I live in a rural area and can't get a signal

That is a common problem. I have had that issue myself. Motorola's pull a better signal in a rural area than LG. I would see if you can do a return exchange for another like phone that is a Motorola. It's the way the phones are made that makes the signal strength different.

How do we get wireless hookup to PC in rural area no cable or DSL

You will have to use a wireless cell phone type of modem. Some hi end cell phones like, blackberry's and some blackjack's have this capibility, to be used as a computer internet modem, see your local cell phone co. This service will be a bit expensive.

One number that will never go through

could be this number is a number to one of the internet phone companies. The small town I live in, the main Telephone provider wouldn't let vonage phones call phones on their exchanges. If you ask them they say it is a vonage problem and if you ask vonage they say it is the local phone company problem. You might also have to dial the area code or a 1 before the number so it will send.

Good luck solving your problem

Vonage and faxes

Only real solution I know would be to get rid of Vonage. All experiences with Vonage has left a bad taste in my mouth. Regardless of your broadband speed, Vonage uses open internet and is subject to network problems. Fax's require Real-Time communication/transmission control, which is, thus far, not available with Vonage.
