Follow the assembly instruction and you can also find a local Astronomy club member to help you assemble it.

Bought the edu science astro nova 102mm do you take the cap on the end by the finderscope completely off or just the middle? is there really a secondary mirror inside I can't see it?I am new at this I...

Take the cap completely OFF. You will see the secondary mirror holder, with the small mirror in t6he center pointed at the primary mirror in the bottom.

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope and take itn outside during the daytime. Practice focusing on a distant object.

Go to the library or use the internet and Google "reflector telescope". Start reading about them.

I bought a 102mm Astro-Nova Telescope. Why cant I see anything?

Why did you buy a telescope being sold by TOYS R US!

We get more complaints on this scope than any other brand.

Next time buy from a regular telescope retailer like this one:

When I look through the telescope all I see is black. I can look through the finderscope and see things. But I can't seem to see anything but black from the telescope. edu science 102mm Astro-Nova telescop...

Basics first - please don't get angry at the suggestions ......

1) On the main telescope, can you see the actual glass lenses at both ends of it (i.e. you've removed both of the lens caps).

2) If you remove the eyepiece (in broad daylight), can you hold it up to an indoor light and see clearly through it?

3) If you now look into the socket where the eyepiece goes, can you see any form of light (in daylight) or is it totally black?

A lot of smaller telescopes have caps both ends, and sometimes caps both ends of both parts, to stop debris getting in when in transit or swapping objectives.

My 102mm astro-nova telescope shows everthing upside down. am i missing a piece for my telescope?

No, all astronomical telescopes show upside down images. You can buy what is called an "erecting prism" (just Google it) to use for terrestrial viewing.

Remember --- no up or down in space! Read my "TIPS" in my Profile, called ----"Frequently Asked Question".

Clear Skies!

Received 102mm astro-nova telescope for xmas. How do you use it? Came with no instructions. Not sure which end to point at the object to be viewed. Removing what looks like a lens cap does nothing.

The eyepiece is on the FRONT end of the telescope which is pointed UP.

The mirror is in the bottom.

Remove the lens cap and put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser. Go outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object. The image will be upside down but this is not a problem. NO up or down in outer space!

I have the astro nova 102mm and everything looks upside down when I look through it

All astronomical telescopes show upside down images. There is no up or down in space. Erecting the image would require more GLASS which would dim the image.

SO......102MM ASTRO-NOVA TELESCOPE.SHOULD I OPEN THE BACK[BLACK PLASTIC] OR THE FRONT[METALLLIC WHITE]? THANKS..

The front is the part where the eyepiece and the focuser happens to be. That is called a REFLECTOR style telescope. Light enters the front of the tube and bounces off the mirror in the bottom of the tube. There returns and bounces off the small secondary tilted mirror out into the focuser and eyepiece. There should be an easy to remove dust cap on the front end near the focuser. That end is pointed toward the sky.

These types of scopes should be checked for collimation to determine if the optics are all lined up.

Try to find a local Astronomy club and get them to help you with the telescope.
